The first season is over, 15th of July and my team is set.. Craig Janney who is retiring won Art Ross and Lady Byng trophys. Our captain Zamuner was 3rd in the Selke race, Kubina won the Calder and Lecavalier was 3rd. Renberg was also 3rd in Bill Masterton votings.

I drafted some older guys like Pahlsson, Zidlicky and Antipov.. Pahlsson will take the center in my third line, and also the first boxplay unit.

Dang thats sick. I did pretty bad for my first year, got the 4th overall draft pick. Ended up taking Zetterberg (4), Commodore (64), Burrows (124), Semenov (177) and Pahlsson (184). Lecavalier did well for me too.

Duncan Keith... What a stud. A bit young to force into the NHL but he has no junior rights.

I somehow managed to snag a 21 year old Chris Philips for Wendel Clark and Cory Cross after my first year. He's been money for me so far. :joy: :joy:

So i apparently suck at attempting to do personal tactics and line tacts...and uh.. I got fired. My question is, where can I check the finances and do the screen shot to show that I was under budget to rehire myself haha.

How did you manage to get fired? Did you uncheck "Disable human manager sackings"? You can just create a new manager and pick Tampa to continue, really not that difficult.

I don't think unchecking that box is allowed for the challenge, you're supposed to be prone to getting fired.

I think it's fine. It doesn't really matter since you can just add yourself back anyway. So, just saves you the the hassle :)

Meanwhile, I've been trying to trade for one of the many good goalies in the league but had no luck so far.

Shakrs have the Bulinwall, Kipper and Nabokov....

I finished my first 20 games. It's tough defensively because I seem to go up in the game's 1st period, but concede like 3 goals in the 2nd period and lose the game. So far I'm 7-10-3(12th in East) but I hope that will either improve after the injuries have healed or I'll tank to get a better pick.

Our score through the first 4 games is 4-16. 3 of those goals came in the very first game. Looks like we're the favorites to get a Sedin from the draft...

The rule mentioned something about getting fired and being 5% below or over the budget so I unchecked it assuming that was playing within the rules lol.

After Game 40, Blue Jackets are on a 20 game losing streak :-D So far this challenge is fun but I'm neither in a play-off spot, or at the bottom of the standings to get a top pick ](*,)

44 games in to season 2, we are in 10th place.. We are still a high scoring team, and still not the better in defensive zone. Janney left a big hole, so i traded Langkow for Marc Savard to get a first line center.. Renberg and Lecavalier is the leaders, with Tucker.
I must get some more players, the AHL team has only 6 defenders and 6 forwards.

Edit: Wow... 54 games played, Renberg is the goal (34) and pointleader (66) in the NHL, and he is left out the Allstar weekend. :-k

Actually, I've encouraged people to "disable human sackings" for the challenges the last several times. Because of the twists and tweaks we do with our challenges, we're definitely prone to getting fired, even if it's a good long-term move. The main focus should really be on what people can get done.

Yeah, that's the old rules. I really need to update them one of these days. I've been pretty much just hitting the important bits in the challenge announcements. I've been trying to simplify things for everyone.

Makes sense haha. I was a little choked at having to redo all my tactics.

Here's a fun pre-draft twist- at the end of March '99, Herik Sedin tears his UCL in a MODO playoff game.

Maybe this is all I need for him to drop to me in the draft :joy:

I see. I'm sorry, I'm all new to this and I just said what I read in the rules without much background to it. :-)

Nice trade Peter_Doherty. Pretty solid value, although C is the last position I'm trying to bulk up in.

Edit: Oh, i assume you mean Savard :) Yeah, i wasn't really looking at C either but when i saw that Rangers only valued him at 3 * i just had to get him :P
