I would consider a fight a ''hockey situation'' but not a situation where one guy is assaulting everybody on sight, just with the intent to injure someone.

No, apparently you cancel the game! :-D and that wasn't a fight, as the other players clearly had no interest in fighting

Alessandro wrote: having prosecutions for "game situations" I think it's a bit ridicolous.
I disagree, as what was done is not a hockey "game situation" (two "willing combatants")

Seems Ryspayev has a harder time against those that fight back! HaHa https://youtu.be/JzOBFX2csuQ

Didn't really "surprise" me.....but I wondered a bit if they'd do it, so it was nice to see they did!

If any English only speakers like myself want to follow the KHL, the 2016-17 season has begun and you can watch the "Daily KHL Update" highlights packages (in English) here https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=P ... tgT1MK68x9

If you're mostly unfamiliar with teams/players (like me) here's the club-by-club previews that are available
P.S. Obviously anyone can follow the "KHL in English" if they want to, regardless of their known language(s) HaHa
I've been watching lots of soccer/football with non-English commentary this summer :-)

Does anyone in Russia get the impression that the KHL is growing way too quickly? Can it support 29 teams long term?

Why not? Several countries are involved. There's China too now!

Since the players are coming from all over the world I'd say, yes.
It is a major market and now they've added China so I guess they'll get more sponsors coming in from there

I do find the league a bit top heavy and it lacks the parity the NHL has but such is life in most of european sports, I guess

What comes to mind first for me is not “wow! Impressive” but rather #1 reminds me of a no-contact game/ringette #2 if someone hits them they’ll get accused of dirty play/suspended

I like the tic-tac-toe passing plays and am impressed by them, and always have been (tika-taka on ice), but nowadays with the “you can’t hit them/they’re in a vulnerable position” I’m less impressed with such end-to-end moves (I guess I’m saying for me, in the days of Kharlamov and Bure such moves were significantly more impressive); often players making such moves are off balance, leaning forward/head lower and oblivious to those who might hit them & as a result they contribute significantly to their getting hit in the head/hurt when it happens.

It reminds me also of players nowadays who turn their back to opponents when close to the boards (some actively looking to get hit from behind in an attempt to draw a penalty)…IMO at the professional level, a player looking to make a legal hit (with the shoulder, elbow in, not charging/leaving their feet and the opponent has the puck) should never be penalized for a "dirty hit" if the player being hit puts himself in a vulnerable position (by lowering his head and/or turning away from the hit).

On another note…..the website I’ve used previously to access SHL games (and some CHL games) now has complete KHL games! http://mitivu.blogspot.ca/
They’re not in English, but they’re complete games! Perfect for “in the background’ as I do the EHM editing I do

My only problem is my old laptop (hooked up to a TV screen) is "temperamental" HaHa and often doesn't want to play them (shuts itself off)

Sorry, I forgot that Sweden has a TV deal with the KHL and thus blocks these videos. Here you have it on youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vg5jG_2M2mw

I was surprised to see the KHL salaries don't seem so high (the idea of the KHL "competing" with the NHL seems completely dead IMO) http://www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/nhl/khl- ... ey-league/

I've actually stopped watching the KHL...I'm watching soccer and NHL hockey (again) so less available time, and the only place I found to follow discussion regarding the KHL was the HFBoards, and I just found the xenophobia to much to take

To be honest, another factor is after watching the NHL for a bit again (last year's playoffs/this season) I got to the point where the KHL just didn't impress/interest me (I'm not very impressed with the offensive play when I'm so much more aware how low intensity the play is, and how the defense play is basically nonexistent)

Do we know what kind of taxes they pay? It could make quite a difference.
