I never really got much into tactics in EHM but the system looks fantastic in this game. Pre-ordered :)

Hello,

I would like to ask if we know what time tomorrow is game gonna be available on Steam? I am going to pre-order this afternoon and I am from Europe. I wonder if there is specific time? (sorry I am home after surgery and I just cannot wait to have some fun)

Thank you for reply!

Id like to ask if defensive players are rated better than in EHM? Usually defensive dmen or checking forwards are playing quite bad in EHM, is it handled better in FHM? Thanks!

Not answering about FHM/I'm sure Sebastian will

Regarding EHM, I've seen many posters note that defensive players are not rated like they should be (AvR rating), but I've also seen many posters note that they have success with defensive players/the defensive players are playing just fine; while AvR for defensive players is an area needing improvement in EHM, IMO it's "common EHM knowledge" that a lower AvR than the top/best ratings is not indicating a defensively oriented player is playing poorly

Sebastian answered this on the FHM3 (OOTPD) Forum http://www.ootpdevelopments.com/board/4 ... st332.html saying "Sorry, I have no idea. Hopefully not late in the night for us here in Germany (6 hours ahead to ET)."

We can´t say any specific time. As Nino posted a bit below, we hope to not go deep into the night here in Germany but you never know if anything bad shows up last minute. ;)

Since it is a long time ago that I played EHM I will just answer the FHM part. ;)

In FHM we try to model all kind of different player types and give them the effect they play in reality. Getting it right in all aspects of the game is quit an undertaking, so we listen to all the feedback we get from the community and build it into the game. The new role model (which has it´s inspirations with FM) is a big move for us to better model the game. In combination we also changed the Game Rating (GR) from just one overall value to 3 different values: Offense GR, Defense GR and Overall GR. It should give a user a much better sense how player perform in their assigned roles. Here is the explanation from our manual:

Offensive Game Rating

An indicator of how well the player performed offensively during the game, particularly in relation to his assigned offensive and power play roles. Affected mainly by successes or failures while the team is in the offensive zone or carrying the puck up-ice, e.g. scoring a goal will bring most players the largest possible offensive score increase (except for players with playmaker-type roles, who will get slightly more from getting an assist), while giving away the puck will mean a large decrease.

Defensive Game Rating

An indicator of how well the player performed defensively during the game, particularly in relation to his assigned defensive and penalty killing roles. Affected mainly by successes or failures while the team is in its defensive zone or defending a rush, e.g. being on the ice when the opposing team scores a goal will bring most players the largest possible defensive score decrease, while getting a takeaway will mean a large increase.

Overall Game Rating

A general indicator of how the player performed his assigned roles during a game. It's derived in large part from the Offensive and Defensive GR, but the proportions depend on the kind of roles assigned to the player - if they're very defense-oriented, his Defensive GR will contribute more than the overall score than the Offensive GR will. Additionally, some "neutral" events (fights, penalties, some events in the neutral zone, etc.) will adjust this score directly - an Enforcer, for example, may get a decent overall GR despite bad Offensive and Defensive scores if he wins a couple of fights.

Goaltenders only get an overall GR, since they don't have tactical roles; theirs is the only GR that's a direct indicator of overall performance, rather than performance within an assigned role.

Scaling

Still being adjusted, but the aim is to have league-leading overall GR somewhere in the neighbourhood of 80. Individual game ratings of 90+ are great, 80+ outstanding, 70+ good, 60's acceptable, 50's questionable but just barely passable, below 50 bad. Standards for average (i.e. multi-game) GR are more forgiving at the top end of the scale and tougher at the bottom - a 50 average means the player's bad half the time, which should be a major danger signal, while and 80 means he's almost always doing very well.

Offensive/Defensive GR will be a bit more extreme in both directions, but hopefully no more than about 5-10 points (for the average) at each end.

Individual 100's should be rare (much rarer than in FHM2).

Offensive/Defensive Ratings start the game at 50.

The rating system sounds great Sebastian

Reminds me of the Attribute system (thorough...as I've said before about FHM "I think the FHM system for Attributes is potentially more robust than that of EHM (and if all is working as intended significantly more robust)"

Is there a way to play "hot seat mode" in the Historical Mode in FHM3, where you can control/be the GM for all the NHL teams? If yes, from 1972-1979 is it possible to control all the NHL and WHA teams?

Also, are the Staff still fake in Historical Mode? If so, is it possible to edit them (at least their names)? I find the fake Staff negatively affects the feeling of immersion for me...

Since I'm asking about editing in Historical Mode, is there a Commissioner Mode in Historical Mode? can you edit in Historical Mode like you can in Sandbox Mode?

We found a problem over the weekend how Steam Keys can be handled for the Beta. We prepare a statement on this topic now but don´t worry:

Everyone who did the Pre-Order for a Steam Key will be able to get the Beta today and everyone who wants to pre-order the game today or in the next two weeks will also have the option to get a Steam Key.

Just wait for the statement from Markus, he will explain it.

There seem to be waaaaaaay too many longterm injuries. Seems like every other day 2 players go down for 4 months+

Oct 16, Kind out for 4 months, Vanek for 14, Greene for 9

Please remember that we are in beta phase and this is exactly the kind of things we try to tweak. So any info will help us greatly to improve the situation for the official end of October release. So thank you for pointing out whatever findings you get!

Yes, you get instant access to the beta. If you want a Steam version, just pre-order the normal eSellerate version and you will be able to get a Steam key when the game is officially released.

You should get an email from eSellerate with your license. Maybe check your Spam folder?

I ask Andreas if the info is not in the email. Here is a link to the download info (can you see it as non-member?):

Easiest is to start the game -> Settings -> Troubleshooting and click on "Open customizable data folder". It should open the data folder of your game.

Then navigate to "quickstart_games" -> "OpeningDay.quick" -> "graphics"

Copy your custom logos (league into logo_leagues, teams into logo_teams and so on) into the right folders and when you start a new game, it will use them.

If you want to add the logos to an existing save, please go to the right folder in your "saved_games" folder and do the same.

The Steam Version will have Steam Works active, that should be a bit easier then. ;)

First time I've stumbled upon this sim...

I noticed you have a Historic option, is this just a 1 season mode or can you build a dynasty? And does it generate real NHL players in the draft if the years do go by?

Thanks
