EHM 2007 on Windows 10

ADMIN NOTE: A common cause of EHM 2007 not running on Windows 10 is because msvcr71.dll is missing. You can download it here. Try putting a copy in c:\Windows\System32 - and, if that doesn't work, try putting a copy in your EHM 2007 installation folder.

So I have uninstalled, rebooted my computer, and reinstalled EHM 2007 from the disc. It installs, and when I double click on the icon the launch it - nothing. When I right click and select "run as administrator", nothing, I keep repeating the uninstall and reinstall and it just won't start. Any suggestions?

Likely not what you were looking for (sorry, I don't know why it's not working for you), but my suggestion, seriously, is to move on from EHM07 and play the new EHM (I haven't even given EHM07 a thought since the new EHM came out)...I don't understand why anyone would want to play 07 with the new version out

Windows 10 won't run any programs installed from a disk with the old anti-piracy protections embedded. I'm sure you can find some workarounds online, I would try installing an older OS in a virtual machine if you want to play the older games.

2005 I'm not sure about but 2007 shouldn't work for you. Details on how you made it work? You seem to be immune from a well documented problem.

I haven't done anything special. It works for plenty of us on Windows 10 (where has it been well documented?). Try disabling your virus scanner and firewall - both have caused issues on all Windows versions (as should be mentioned in the abovementioned threads). IIRC Avast has been a prime culprit in the past.

So my PC ran fine for two years since purchase until yesterday I was forced to do a restore of Windows 10. I have been playing EHM 2007 for years and never had a problem running the game or modding it in any way.

After the restore I downloaded the try it and buy it and installed it. Works perfectly.

When I patch the game, IT simply will not run, not even as administrator.

I've uninstalled several times and tried again, it seems like it's something simple I'm missing and I was hoping one of you great people could steer me in the right direction.

When I run the patch though, it's dead, won't run, not even errors.

Ok so I hope one of the admins can sticky a thread for playing NHL EHM 2007 on newer versions of Windows.

The game DOES run on Windows 10.

Always run everything related to the game as an administrator.

I have the new version of EHM but I hardly play it compared to EHM 2007. Every time the new EHM has a roster update I'll do a new Leafs career and go for a few seasons sometimes a few decades but EHM 2007 is something I'll always play consistently. I use the original roster which I have edited to make it more true to real life as it was then making guys like Shea Weber better and giving Steven Stamkos more potential and downgrading Angelo Esposito etc and I prefer it way more than the new version. I think the biggest reason for that is I just think that era of hockey was far superior. Don't get me wrong I still love hockey and always will and will always follow the leafs religiously but hockey isn't what it was 10-15 years ago hitting is way down and fighting has been for the most part eliminated I mean name one enforcer still playing in the NHL it's just a different game. Back then you had Crosby and Ovechkin coming into their second season on teams ready to run the league for the next decade and we were just a few years removed from arguably the best NHL draft class of all time it was just a better time for NHL hockey and that's why I always go back and I would guess that's the same reason many others also still prefer EHM 2007.
