Reserve List

Post by RomanesEuntDomus »

How do you guys deal with the fact that you have to sign your prospects by June 1st but don't get rid of the contracts of your expiring FAs until July 1st? It really clutters up the reserve list during the month of June and I pretty much always end up going way above the 50 contract limit during that month. I know that I can put some of my lower tier/expiring FAs on Waivers to get them off the list for a few days, but that doesn't get me through the whole month so I end up having to trade people or buying out guys whose contracts would expire anyway... Is there any way around this, since I'm pretty sure that's not how things are intended to work?

I personally never have a problem with reserve list. I used to have with old EHM 07, constantly, but not with the current EHM... for some reason.

I had this same issue in EHM07 and still do...it's just become second nature at this point, I didn't even realize it lol

Looking on Wikipedia https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NHL_salar ... act_limits
  • A team may not have more than 50 players under contract at any point during the season. This limit includes players on injured reserve or long-term injured reserve.
  • Exception: An 18- or 19-year-old player with remaining major junior eligibility, or a player who is drafted from a European team who is then selected in the CHL Import Draft, does not count toward the contract limit until he has played at least 11 NHL games, if the player is assigned to his major-junior team only.
If you're finding the exception is not working I suggest reporting it on the SI EHM Bugs Forum and uploading your save https://community.sigames.com/forum/292 ... ugs-forum/

Also, "Reserve List" is not the same thing as Number of Contracts (and so the thread title of this thread doesn't seem correct based on the issue/question); from the same Wikipedia article
  • team may not have more than 90 players on its reserve lists at any one time during a season. The reserve list includes players under contract, unsigned draft picks who have collegiate or major junior eligibility remaining, and all unsigned draft picks who have been drafted by a team within the last two league years. NHL teams retain exclusive rights to draft picks for two years after a player is drafted, or until NCAA or major junior eligibility has been exhausted.

It's 80 actually, if I recall correctly from my play session yesterday (which included a 2018 draft)

Yup, it's 80 total although that's not really the problem, the contracted players are.

I don't think that applies here, the problem are the players whose rights would expire on June 1st (usually 20 year olds in their second post-draft season) and who I had to sign to regular contracts. The problem is basically that I have to add the new youth for next season a whole month before the old guard moves out. And they all count towards the 50-contract limit during that time. I don't assume I can make a paper transaction to send them back to juniors for one more month after that? And even if I could, I assume they would still count towards the limit?

Well the message that pops up for me is about "Reserve List notifications", that's why I chose that name ;).

RomanesEuntDomus - sounds like you should post about this on the SI Bugs Forum (so Riz can see it/address it)

It doesn't really feel like a bug though, more like a feature that has been implemented incorrectly. That's why I wanted to ask if it's the same for everyone else as well?
