In any event, I have the copy and paste function working and have been able to add the Scottish league as a new playable league (rather than replacing an existing league).
So what this means we'll be able to add playable leagues via the Ruling Bodies and Transfer Rules screens? I've never done this before and I'm trying to predict how it would work.

Related question: In the Transfer Rules section, there's a dropdown about what kind of Draft each league has. I can see that some leagues have their drafts in there, but where is the data on those drafts stored? Is that a yet-to-come feature for the editor?
Playable leagues can be added via the Rules & Structure screen rather than the Ruling Bodies and Transfer Rules screens (they are separate screens). I'm about 95% done with the editing screen now (excluding a few settings for which I do not have the details yet - so they will not be editable in the initial release). Once I'm done, I'll figure out how it all works (on the face of it, it's a complex range of interconnected settings) and then I'll post a tutorial showing a simple example (perhaps something like adding the Australian league).

Drafts are editable in the upcoming version of the Editor (I added it a couple of weeks ago).

Will it be possible to add/remove drafts from leagues?
Will it be possible to add/remove waiver settings?

I haven't tested either. I can however say:

Drafts:
- It is possible to add new entries via the Drafts editing screen in the upcoming version of the Editor; and
- You'll see there is a "Drafts" setting on the Transfer Rules screen of the currently released Editor.

Waivers: If you take a look at the Extra Rules page of the Transfer Rules screen you'll see that you can add various waiver settings.

So it means that potentially in future we will be able for example to play using NHL and WHA in 1974/75 database? =P~

Could I ask a couple of really noob questions?

Question 1.

I've done quite a bit of editing with players and coaches moving them from the NHL/KHL etc into the British Elite League. However, I occasionally get NHL teams coming in for my players and it's a tad frustrating having put a bit of work into changing players into the British teams etc. Is there anyway in the editor to stop this so that NHL teams wont come into and nick my players?

Question 2.

The other question I have is as follows. One of the really, really frustrating things I find with this game is when you get to August of preseason, you suddenly discover 50 Juniors have been promoted to your team - players you just aren't going to use - before moving them to Under 18 teams or releasing them, then finding the next day another 40 have suddenly been promoted. Is there any way to stop this using the editor or is there is just a way of stopping the Juniors being promoted?

I appreciate the feedback and I'm loving the database editor and I'm really looking forward to the next release.

May be you should decrease NHL reputation & cap? (also reputation of all nhl teams)

To stop this from happening the easiest thing to do is as follows:
Go onto the editor and put your players loyalty to 100, NHL teams will still be interested in them, maybe even offer them a contract. However they will be so loyal they won't leave.

It's worked every time for me while player with the Coventry Blaze and the players I've done it to have never left.

Hope this helps :)!

With this editor can we take say the 1998 database and use the 2016 rules so like 30 AHL teams etc or no?

Not yet though; Archi's Editor does not yet support changing the number of teams in playable Leagues

You might be able to do it "the old fashioned way" (with the PreGame Editor/Updater) but it would take A LOT of work though.

2015 is right now the most current Rule Set available for use.

The 1998 DB uses the 2006 Rule Set, and only 10 Leagues need to be "correct" for 2006 (the playable ones), and the default 2006 database (what the 1998 database was based on) starts with them correct so no review/editing was required

The 2015 Rule Set involves 28 playable Leagues.....you'd have to ensure all the teams in the 28 Leagues are capable of existing correctly in the database for a 2015 Rule Set (so you'd have to review and edit as necessary all 28 playable Leagues) & then hope the automatic process the game does at startup for the 2015 Rule Set works...and you wouldn't know if it would actually work until you'd completed all the necessary editing and then tried to import the database

I think it's better to wait for Archi and/or Riz to provide an Editor that can do this (that can change number of teams in a playable League) :-)

Unfortunately I have been working some fairly lengthy hours these past two weeks (and probably for the next two weeks as well) and so I have not made much progress. However, the Rules and Structures editing screens are complete as far as possible. There are some settings for which I don't have the definitions and without these certain aspects cannot be edited (well, the numerical value can generally be edited but we just won't know what it means). I should have the definitions at some point in the future however (but probably not in time for the next release). It seems as though the definitions are going to be pretty essential for getting a playable league up and running. Although I can add new playable leagues, I get a crash when I click on a team's schedule screen button (but the game seems to generate schedules because I get a news item announcing the season's opening games).

I'm going to release the next version as soon as I have finished fixing some bugs identified in the last version (e.g. start date editing and adding clubs). Once I've done that, I'll start a new thread so that we can discuss our experiments with league structure editing. Hopefully with a few of us looking at it, we can get some new playable leagues working correctly.
