Re: Challenge #44 - Discussion Thread
I got the rosters/save yesterday just to take a look at the squad.
The goalies are underwhelming and Domi's PA seems to be reduced from previous DBs. The Center "depth" is a joke, hopefully Strome can grow enough in a year. I might even send Domi down, not sure about Duclair.
Not many trade assests as well, mby a couple of Dmen for a Center could work.

I don't. I said, it looks that way, based on his lower atts despite being a year older.Peter_Doherty wrote:How do you know Domis PA is reduced? :S

I didn't really notice, since I just started and am gearing up for training camp, but is losing Doan for 5 months part of the actual save, or am I just really unlucky?

Just unlucky. When I first looked at this roster I was like "I can make it work"...I don't know how Dave Tippett does it. His PA is the same as last year, and his CA has increased from 138 to 152 (and taking a quick look using the PreGame Editor, his totals for Physical/Technical Attributes have increased since last year too)m0fownz0r wrote:I don't. Also, PA is "Potential Ability" and thus it's not "noticeable" by looking at starting Attributes (that would be CA); Domi's PA is -9 which means it'll be somewhere between 150 and 180, so it's highly likely he's going to get significantly better!

Re: Challenge #44 - Discussion Thread
All I meant was that by looking at his attributes in the save game, to me, they appeared to be lower in comparision to level his attributes usually are during the 2nd season. It was all based on a mere observation of mine.nino33 wrote:m0fownz0r wrote: Domi's PA seems to be reduced from previous DBsHis PA is the same as last year, and his CA has increased from 138 to 152 (and taking a quick look using the PreGame Editor, his totals for Physical/Technical Attributes have increased since last year too)m0fownz0r wrote:I don't. Also, I'm fully aware what "Potential Ability" is and that it's not "noticeable" by looking at the starting atts.
Thanks for the lecture on the terminology though.

Not sure why you've taken offencem0fownz0r wrote:Thanks for the lecture on the terminology though.
You said PA (which makes no sense to use in the context you did), and your observations weren't correct either...I'm not sure how I was supposed to know you didn't mean what your words actually said; if you're allowed to post your thoughts/observations, I'd think I can post mine too

Re: Challenge #44 - Discussion Thread
I couldn't help myself, I downloaded the save last night and woke up early to get some game time in. I'm 8 games in so far and I'm 4-2-2. I'm not sure what to make of the team, I'm in every game but not dominating and the two regulation losses were just because I gave a ton of penalties, I gave the Pens 13 PP's and the Ducks 10. I know it's early but I don't think this team is horrible and I think it's actually pretty close to being pretty good

How is potential ability making no sense in the context of player growth?

Re: Challenge #44 - Discussion Thread
- because PA doesn't affect a player's growth between age 20 and 21, it's a long term thingm0fownz0r wrote:How is potential ability making no sense in the context of player growth?
- because you can't observe a PA reduction by looking at Attributes in game (which is what you said you did)
- the actual observation you made was incorrect, his Attributes are actually higher (because his CA is higher)
I'm not interested in arguing with you, you can carry on if you'd like, I'm done
Enjoy the Challenge everyone; Merry Christmas

Re: Challenge #44 - Discussion Thread
Potential ability as in the upside a given player has ,but I guess you only see it a ehm definition which is related to a certain digit/number. You can't move pass the literal meaning of "Potential ability". That's fine.nino33 wrote:- because PA doesn't affect a player's growth between age 20 and 21, it's a long term thingm0fownz0r wrote:How is potential ability making no sense in the context of player growth?

What I have a problem with is the attitude. You are not arguing, you just state your opinion in a condesending manner and leave.

People like me? Do you not enjoy EHM? or the DBs you make? Have I ever expressed any ungratefullness towards you or any of the people involved in the updating process?nino33 wrote:Yeah, I can't help myself! HaHaCJ wrote:And don't reveal too much for these guys.
