Team goal horns
Is there away to have team specific folders for goals horns so they can play at each arena? Just curious.....
Thanks

Guys, I was just looking into the goal horns issue this weekend when I was playing EHM 2007 once again, and there is support for custom goal horns in the code.
Iirc, you need to setup a subfolder in the sounds directory called "horns" and put in team specific wav files (ie. "full_team_name.wav").
I'm pretty sure I once wrote a short doc on this but I'm not sure if it ever got published. Not that I'm sure if the support for these custom horns actually ever was properly tested and verified working.
I'm going to dig up my old Rangers CD with the goal horn + song and try it with my Rangers career later tonight
P.S. If it works, it'd be nice to get a full pack of horns together.

Sound is something I've never really bothered with in EHM, but a pack of cool horn sounds would be a very nice change. I seem to remember there being a lot of work on this by some EA Sports NHL fans (I think it was for 2004). I wonder if I can find that site/forum again - that'd make a good starting point.

I just tried it here on my laptop by just creating the "horns" subfolder in the game sounds directory and just copied one of the default music files in there and renamed it to match the team name. And it works okay, so the support is there alright.
I tried it with a quick WAV from the Rangers CD but the 17.2 meg file size was probably a bit too much so that didn't play. It would need to be cut down to size probably.
Edit: I seem to recall some 2ksports forums having a huge list of fan made goal horn samples in mp3 form at least as well.

It wasn't supposed to be a hidden one, as I'm pretty sure I wrote a usage guide for it at one point. It just probably got lost in the aftermath of the active development ceasing on the game and it was never officially documented anywhere.McQwak wrote:Wow, another hidden easter egg.Thanks.

Nice to see you play EHM.
I booted up EHM this past weekend to have a look at some things and ended up playing a bit again on a few days. I had planned on playing Fallout New Vegas on Sunday evening but ended up playing EHM until 1am

And EHM is much more replayable. Look at the bunch of us still playing it 4 years later.riz_si wrote:McQwak wrote: I booted up EHM this past weekend to have a look at some things and ended up playing a bit again on a few days. Goal horn issues
I've been having some trouble adding in team goal horns, I was able to find .wav files of around 5 seconds for every team in the NHL but I can't seem to get them to play correctly. Does anyone know if this is even possible? I made a new folder in the sound folder called horns and have been labeling all files in this format (toronto_mapleleafs.wav) I've tried replacing the existing horns but could figure out a way to do this properly either. Any input would be great!

Where did you get the idea that you could have different horn sounds?

Re: Goal horn issues
I saw here in one of the forums that someone was able to change the goal horn sounds by editing the goal file, they didn't leave details as to how many they did this was way back a few years ago and have seen any mention of it since

I'd be interested in this if it actually worked. Hope someone knows any details of this?!

We have this in the EHM 07 Downloads section:

The file is corrupt though. Archi might have the file somewhere in his dungeons.

Here is a post from a while back, if it works as they say it seemed possible to get every teams horn in game, but I haven't had any luck, oh well. Maybe something for future installments of the game. Sound isn't really a feature that makes or breaks this game, but still would be really cool to have

Re: Goal horn issues
I'm sure I've details on game sounds somewhere. I'll try to check through my emails.
I've checked my dungeons and have re-uploaded the file in Tasku's post.

Ria posted on the SI forums a while back that it is possible to have specific goal horns for every team. You have to rename the file under the team name.

Re: Team goal horns
Huge bump, but I've managed to add specific goal horns to every NHL team, and it's working like a charm!
Just place the 30 .wav files under Eastside Hockey Manager/data/sounds/horns (if you don't have the folder "horns", create it inside "sounds" folder!).
Most horns are around 6/7 seconds (no music after the horn) because if the .wav file is longer than 7 seconds, the song will continue to play after the faceoff (after goal).
