After 5 seasons with the Guelph Storm and increasing my reputation to very good (4 time champs), I haven't been able to get a new job anywhere. I first started with applying to the Winnipeg Jets and having my application approved, only to be informed the job was given to some rando. After nearly half a year simming on vacation and checking the apply for a job check box, I still can't get a job from any team. After a month or two not getting any NHL jobs available, I took anything anything at that point; tried ECHL teams, other OHL teams, QMJHL, Finnish Jr Teams, AHL, etc. All applications are acknowledged and then, as mentioned, the job is given to someone with a lesser reputation. I became unemployed by resigning in the off season, after I made my final draft picks and last management decisions.
Is it possible by resigning I ruined my reputation and now other teams aren't interested? Do i have to let my contract with Guelph expire first? It was my first job when I started the game and the original goal was to build up my reputation so I could eventually apply for an NHL position. So it's a bit frustrating to sim half a year and not get just an NHL job, but any other job. Any ideas as to why this is or is it just a bug? I know I can add another GM on the save, but it's just not the same.
Help! Can't land a new job.

havent played with latest patches but I done lots of testing before...very importan is that you are running lots of leagues so that there is many posibilities to get a job...get into NHL is not so easy and you had to won CHL before trying to think of moving there...as well its important data base you are using etc (bigger data means more other managers).

I'm using a moderately large database with the TBL 1998 roster pack so maybe the TBL 2016-2017 roster add on doesn't have this issue but I don't know for sure. Leagues I have as enhanced are NHL, WHL, QMJHL, OHL, AHL, ECHL, SM League, Mestis League, SEL, and Allsvenskan.Kopi wrote:havent played with latest patches but I done lots of testing before...very importan is that you are running lots of leagues so that there is many posibilities to get a job...get into NHL is not so easy and you had to won CHL before trying to think of moving there...as well its important data base you are using etc (bigger data means more other managers).
Does the game really make it that difficult to get a new job even after 5 years and with a "Very Good" reputation? If so is there a way to mod the game to make it easier or even a way to pick the team you want to manage without adding another GM? At this point I'm not going to wait how many years to finally get a random job on vacation or grind another 5 years with Guelph just to increase the chance of being employed.
I hope this is a bug bc it's really breaking immersion; it doesn't let you feel like you're progressing your GM career as years are simmed by. I want to manage a team, make it successful after a few years or so, then look for a new team and challenge, all the while increasing my reputation, and ultimately, retire as a legendary GM. Its bumming me out that I might not be able to do that after investing so many hours in that save.

What is your manager`s nationality? I notice that the worst is to resign and wait for another job...best is to apply for jobs while having a team. Have you got any big success in Guelph? No matter what i think you should be getting offers from ECHL...NHL might be to hard and would have to be a path via AHL or SEL in your game..to get into NHL you need to be successful in leagues with high reputation which top few Europeans and AHL are. CHL is, if im not mistaken, in rankings of ECHL when it comes to league reputation.

American nationality. I'm ranked first in canada, yet even other OHL teams wouldn't hire me. For me getting even a CHL job is as hard an NHL job apparently

Strange. Go some save back if you can while still at Guelph and apply to other jobs and see if you can get them...

I used a save a that's a few in-game years back to test with and same results as before unfortunately. I plan on at least finishing another season with Guelph and trying it out again I guess.
