He has been a terrific playmaker at the Allsvenskan level. His full game was never good enough for the SHL.
His age might be a concern but he is so smart with the puck and stick so he can probably make it work at the lower level.

Gutted that Oxford have dropped into NIHL2 will be interested to see what the quality is like down there this season.

Pleased that MK Thunder are putting what looks like a competitive squad together though!

So that's a team for me in all 3 divisions this year I think!

Storm finally announce Finnerty as head coach. Also there's going to be a one-off hockey game fundraising for the victims of the Manchester Arena attack

Decided to try something out earlier on (yes I have too much spare time). I know that Brian Stewart was rumoured to be going to Guildford Flames, and I looked at the roster on their website and noticed that each player has a separate webpage. For example, Ben Davies is http://guildfordflames.com/_5_ben_davies so I decided to go to http://guildfordflames.com/_41_brian_stewart and it says Under Construction. If you type in a different player name & number who does not exist, e.g. guildfordflames.com/_99_wayne_gretzky it auto redirects to the home page... So I'd say that's pretty conclusive that Stewart has signed.

Now if you want to try every other combination of player name and number then you'll be able to see who they've already signed :nerd:

It also seems we have pages for Mike Will, Jez Lundin, Kari Sihvonen, Jarred Lane, Sam Godfrey and Andy McKinney. Seems Duggan and Michal Satek have left.

Edit: Scrap that. Sounds like pages for some former players have not been removed yet - e.g. Sam Waller.

Well, I doubt Zakharchenko will get much. The Ukraine league is no more, and he can't play in the VHL because of import goalies restrictions. He surely can't play in the KHL as foreigner, therefore his choices are limited. Garnett is old and washed up (for top-level leagues), that also means reasonable salary, most likely.

No idea about Zakharchenko, but I think this advert is from the Panthers advertising their starter role http://jobs.eliteprospects.com/JobPosting/53 so that shows a starting salary. Garnett is also on a University deal, so will get his university fees covered which will come to tens of thousands of pounds as well, plus he will have a car and flat sorted by the team as well.

Nottingham need their players in by 8th August as they're playing in the CHL, so unlikely to be that one. Could be the same salary range though

Coventry, Guildford, Manchester, and MK will compete in the Patton conference this season. The other conferences remain as Gardiner and Erhardt

Not a jot unfortunately, contract terms very rarely become public and if they do its more hearsay than fact. I'd expect somewhere around £500 per week at most, but that's a guess.

What sort of player is he, and where do you see him playing in the future? (eg as a top-6 forward for a KHL team?)

16-yr old Kieran Brown signs for Sheffield after 2 years in Iowa Wild Jrs. His Jr stats are crazy, in 2012-13 he scored 141 goals in 15 games for Bradford U-12s  Surprised he didn't stay in the States, he's by far the best British prospect currently

Do you think he will go on a two-way deal with the Steeldogs?

I would expect so, otherwise I doubt he'd get much icetime yet

Edinburgh sign Dmitri Khristich as head coach, he was formerly assistant coach for Ukraine and Video Coach in the KHL. His playing career included 811 games in the NHL (including all - star appearances) and he also played for the Soviet Union and later Ukraine. Didn't see that one coming... Interesting to see how he does at the smallest budget team.

NIHL Cup & playoff details announced: http://eiha.co.uk/nihl-national-cup-pla ... confirmed/

First post is updated. The cup formats just seem to keep the EPL teams playing each other a few more times. No Tigers to be seen in the Cup however...

Pavel Vorobyev gave a lengthy interview to the Russian press, do you think any UK website would be interested in a translation?

I'll (try to) speak to the Edinburgh Capitals PR guy and the British Ice Hockey website, they might be interested
