Re: EHM 1 Database & Saved Game Editor

Post by DonHenke »

I' m stiil a bit confused about all of this. The various versions of the game, and the editor.

I downloaded the game via stem two days ago. Which game version do I have then?

I subscribe to TBL's 9,6 roster updates, and it works fine, but since the database is not updated, at least not in Denmark, I wanted to do so. So I got this editor. Opened the editor, and opened the database (At least I think it is the correct one. Where do I locate the TBL one). It loaded, but when I try to search for the players they don't exist. What am I doing wrong?

Any help will be highly appreciated

Cheers

Maybe You searched players that not being added in database. Do You see any other players for example Crosby?

Thus you're editing the default DB

I have the same problem. After 9.1 I subscribed on steam. I have never been using the editor before so maybe I am doing something wrong. Downloaded it two days ago. But when I run it and want to load a db I get the following:

https://gyazo.com/f1ec13ad8c2193f49bc237a483906618

So I can only load the databases I have downloaded from this site (9.1 and versions before that). How to access and edit 9.6? I tried the file database as well and can't find any players there.

I have, but since I, as I wrote in the previous post, am a little confused about which edition I have of both the game and the editor, I was actually hoping for a friendly soul.

EHM Editor

Post by krownroyal83 »

I downloaded the editor and my question basically is whether or not there is a way to switch the team a player plays on? I can change most things but lets say there was a recent trade in real life and I want to reflect it in game. It doesn't appear to be allowing me to do that.

It's hard to help if you don't know what edition of the game you're playing! If you're playing it via Steam then it's the latest edition ("EHM1") and not EHM07/EHM05/etc as only the latest version of EHM uses Steam. If you're using the Editor from this thread, you're using the EHM1 Editor

For EHM1 your database(s) will be found on your computer at "Program Files - Steam - steamapps - common - Eastside Hockey Manager - data - database"

With the new EHM, to have more than the default databases available you'll need to either Subscribe to other databases (via Steam and the Steam Workshop), or you'll need to import a EHM2007 database into EHM1 (this wiki page explains using addons, including other databases, with EHM1 http://www.ehmtheblueline.com/wiki/inde ... rly_Access)

Are you trying to edit the database, or a saved game?

With EHM1 you can move players around from team to team if editing the database, but you can't do so in a saved game; in the same way, you can edit league structure (like adding/removing teams) if editing the database, but not with a saved game

I know your post was not a response to my previous post but I have a similar problem. I am playing via steam but when I want to load a database in the editor I can't see 9.6 in the folder you mention. I only see tbl 9.1 and previous databases I downloaded before I started using steam. You have a solution to this?

Sorry, I don't have a solution.....can you even edit a database that you only subscribe to? :dunno:

I've only edited databases that I myself have imported into EHM1 from EHM07 format, and so the databases are always there in the database folder (both the EHM07 version that I imported, and the EHM1 version that was created by the import)

Is this just a case of not finding the files, since Steam takes the database in to a different folder? I don't have a computer with a Steam Workshop database now installed, so I can't look it up, but like Alessandro said earlier: "search is your friend". The info is in here somewhere.

That is my problem yes. I have looked around here but havent found a solution (sorry if I missed it somewhere). Have searched my harddrive as well. Can find tbl rosters 9.1 but no 9.6. That is why I am hoping that someone here can provide an answer.

I was editing a saved game. EHM assistant is what I was using. Is that the right tool to be using? If So i just need to download a copy of the data base?

Yeah, the problem is Steam names the file with a bunch of numbers. But it's somewhere in C:\ -- the default folder for Steam Workshop. Perhaps try searching for a folder named "Workshop", or something like that.

#1 I think you should have posted in the EHM Assistant thread, not the EHM1 Editor thread
#2 You can't move players from team to team in a saved game with EHM
#3 Yes, you can edit a database directly, either by editing an EHM07 version of the database using an EHM07 Editor and then importing the edited database into EHM1, or by using Archi's EHM1 Editor to edit an EHM1 database

I moved it here. It was in it's own thread, and since the threads name was simply "EHM Editor", figured it belongs here.

Thanks for clarifying/sorry krownroyal

This thread is titled EHM1 Database & Saved Game Editor (the "1" after the EHM references it as "different" as it's currently the only Editor that allows you to edit a database in the new version of EHM)

The EHM Assistant has it's own thread http://www.ehmtheblueline.com/forums/vi ... &start=525
But Garfild seems to just (very quickly!) supply a new version of the EHM Assistant each time EHM updates, he rarely (never?) actually answer questions or explains how things work/what can and can't be done. The EHM Assistant can only edit saved games, it does not edit the actual database.

I didn't know this! Thanks! I like learning stuff :-)

I believe the needed folder is at "Program Files - Steam - steamapps - workshop - content"
The files are all numbered, so not easy to tell what's what at all

For the life of me I can't find the downloaded content from steam either. I searched everywhere. I'm looking for TBL roster 9.6 so I can start editing it and update the roster but i'll be damned if I can find it on my computer. I've searched everywhere. Used key words and nothing.

For me there's a folder called "301120" within that content folder and then in there are similar folders named with numbers. Two of them seem to be databases. (Probably TBL Rosters and the 1998 DB)

My path is slightly different: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\workshop\content\

Edit: and correction: the file is not named as numbers, the folders are.

I have these four files. One of them is obviously a database but if I edit that one it will not help anything if I start a new game in 9.6. That is why I am a bit desperate to locate the 9.6.

Ok so I think i found the data base. It was not labeled anything other than "database" and it would appear the trades are up to date from the trade deadline so that's good enough for me. It was found C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\workshop\content\301120 then it was the second file from the bottom "821205663" There was another database i found but it was the default one. I don't know if this will help anyone but I thought i'd share.
