Hello,
I noticed that newly-generated players have very low values of potential attributes.
My test ended in the 2024-25 season:
PA of all newly generated players:
PA over 180 - 0 players
PA 170-180 - 1 player
PA 160-170 - 3 players
PA 150-160 - about 15 players

I am sorry for my bad English.

Isn't the game picking PA's from retired players for the newgen's?

Basically, yes. But I, named and shindings are studying ways to improve the current situation for a more realistic long-term simulation. Probably we will have to raise a little bit the CA of some leagues. Tests are ongoing. For now just keep on researching the way you're doing it.

What is "the current situation" that's trying to be improved? If it's a lack of superstar/generational talent I don't see how increasing the CA levels of some leagues helps

I was curious so I looked at the PA for 4 draft years in the current EHM database (2008-2010 + 2012) and I looked at the same ranges as the OP

I included variable PAs and used the known math/distribution model to project actual PA (so all variable PA players are included in the calculations)

Original poster saw 0 - 1 - 3 - 15 players (19 total) within the four PA ranges
2012 has 0 - 3 - 6 - 8 players (17 total)
2010 has 1 - 2 - 8 - 8 players (19 total)
2009 has 2 - 3 - 4 - 15 players (24 total)
2008 has 4 - 1 - 6 - 9 players (20 total)

Here's the actual data from the 4 drafts I looked at...
For each year the top 30 listed are the top 30 drafted, then it's only players with a minimum of 100 NHL GP (but still in draft order)
The number listed (on the far left) is the player's PA

2012 NHL Draft
132 N. Yakupov (-14) less than 50% chance of improving on his 132 CA
165 R. Murray (-9) current CA 148
165 A. Galchenyuk (-9) current CA 162
145 G. Reinhart (-8) current CA 122
165 M. Rielly (-9) current CA 152
165 H. Lindholm (-9) current CA 158
145 M. Dumba (-8) current CA 136
145 D. Pouliot (-8) current CA 128
165 J. Trouba (-9) current CA 152
145 S. Koekkoek (-8) current CA 126
165 F. Forsberg (-9) current CA 160
137 M. Grigorenko current CA 122
128 R. Faksa (-14) less than 50% chance of improving on his 128 CA
136 Z. Girgensons (-14) less than 50% chance of improving on his 136 CA
145 C. Ceci (-8) current CA 140
135 T. Wilson (-14) current CA 128
148 T. Hertl (-8) less than 50% chance of improving on his 148 CA
165 T. Teräväinen (-9) current CA 140
165 A. Vasilevskiy (-9) current CA 144
145 S. Laughton (-8) current CA 128
125 M. Jankowski (-14) current CA 99
138 O. Määttä (-14) less than 50% chance of improving on his 138 CA
145 M. Matheson (-8) current CA 138
140 M. Subban (-15) current CA 118
125 J. Schmaltz (-14) current CA 96
125 B. Gaunce (-14) current CA 128
145 H. Samuelsson (-8) current Ca 116
145 B. Skjei (-8) current CA 132
126 S. Matteau (-14) less than 50% chance of improving on his 126 CA
154 T. Pearson current CA 146
145 J. McCabe (-8) current CA 136
126 C. Sissons (-7) less than 50% chance of improving on his 126 CA
132 C. Tierney (-14) less than 50% chance of improving on his 132 CA
138 J. Martinook (-7) little chance of improving on his 138 CA
148 D. Severson (-8) less than 50% chance of improving on his 148 CA
142 S. Gostisbehere (-14) less than 50% chance of improving on his 142 CA
146 C. Parayko (-8) less than 50% chance of improving on his 146 CA
156 F. Andersen
125 C. Paquette (-7) current CA 124
128 A. Athanasiou (-7) less than 50% chance of improving on his 128 CA
138 J. Slavin (-14) less than 50% chance of improving on his 138 CA
126 C. Carrick (-7) less than 50% chance of improving on his 126 CA
145 B. Hutton (-8) current CA 138
126 C. Miller (-7) less than 50% chance of improving on his 126 CA

1/3 of 8 players with a -9 PA would most likely result in two, maybe three players with a 170-180 PA
1/3 of 14 players with a -8 PA would likely result in four players with a 150-160 PA + 1/7 of 12 players with a -14 PA would likely result in an additional one or two players with a 150-160 PA

For anyone wondering what "known math/distribution model" regarding PA refers to, or why I'm saying some players have a "less than 50% chance of improving" on their CA, see the February 9th discussion here http://www.ehmtheblueline.com/forums/vi ... ge#p223458

I would like to point out of the problem again in the following topic.

http://www.ehmtheblueline.com/forums/vi ... 22#p223722

In some leagues, team reputations are too high and generally too mixed. It would be good if all head-researchers from the leagues / countries discussed.

We did change a lot of reps for this release (mostly lowering them), did you check in the latest version? Can you tell us any example of any rep that should be changed?

I examine it more closely and then report.

The german DEL is definitely one of this leagues. I believe France is also part of it.

To understand: The reputation of a team indicates how attractive a team is? So higher the reputation is, the better / well known players can I sign?

I don't know if the EIHL will be 100% correct yet - it depends if I can get the correct scheduling working with the three conferences. It'll certainly have 12 teams though.

No, the Champions league is hardcoded, therefore we can't edit there.

Weird...I just downloaded/unzipped the file without issue; sorry that I have no helpful advice, I'm not sure why it's not working for you

That's the format for the new (since 2015) EHM...sounds like you're maybe thinking of the EHM07 format (TBL databases aren't released in EHM07 format anymore, just the new EHM1 format)

You can access the roster information and a lot more within the "database" file using Archi's Editor http://www.ehmtheblueline.com/forums/vi ... 10&t=14290

FYI you can also access/edit some of the data in a saved game with Archi's Editor, or with Garfild's EHM Assistant http://www.ehmtheblueline.com/forums/vi ... &start=525

I've only played the new EHM. I normally get a folder (example, TBL rosters v 9.1, and a readme thing) but this time I get database and 3 different configs. I put the database and the configs in the database folder with EHM and the beta rosters won't show up when I try to import a database. I've always done things the way workthespace has on youtube.

I guess part of the "beta experience" is no readme file HaHa

You don't import the Beta database (it's not in EHM07 format, it's already in EHM1 format.....so it makes sense to me that an EHM1 database doesn't show up as an EHM07 database you can import)

Sorry, I've never watched the youtube video you're referring to...Did you try making a folder (in your steam-steamapps-common-Eastside Hockey Manager-data-database folder) and putting the downloaded files in the folder? And then just selecting the database to start a new game with (no need to import)?

You should be able to choose the database (it should show up as whatever you called the folder)
