Kindly disregard, idiot me was trying to import the worksheet ... when importing the PROPER file it worked seamlessly !Realpity wrote:Wonder if someone can help me out, I've previously been running OHL games with this, but now want to do NHL and utilize the draft spreadsheet, no matter what I try when importing it I get this error every time (I do indeed have .xlsx checked):

I have absolutely ZERO experience on excel, searched these forums and google and still drawing a blank ... any fix would be appreciated.

Good
BTW - if you want to run your own expansion draft or change players on the expansion teams, the NHL32 thread has step by step instruction...it would work similar for NHL36.

Archi,
I've run into an issue with next DB update - I wasn't really even tinkering with clubs or nations that I can recall but am getting this error upon launch (prior to the league selection screen). Any thoughts?
Thanks!

Click "OK" then...

PS - Here is the DB file.

I won't have a chance to look until the weekend, but I think it will be this: viewtopic.php?f=110&t=14290&start=1100#p234753
I think this is good reason to speed up the next release of the Editor. I'll see if I can finish off what I was doing and then release.

Yeah that has to be it although I'm unsure how to fix it now so I saved it when it was being screwy.
So weirdly, when I had added Quebec as NT and U20 at one point and when I got to edit them with "Quebec" as the club filter (also showing the Nordiques and Remparts) and then save, for some reason all of a sudden I see Zambia and Zambia U20 in Quebec and Quebec U20's place (along with the Nords and Remparts). If I re-edit the filter, then Quebec and Quebec U20 will show back up. But I tried to change Quebec and Quebec U20 to like none or amateur status to see if that would stop this "national teams" error but it doesn't.

Great thanks, I've mostly used the editors from the EHM2007 one to the current EHM1 one for editing player info and the odd team, but this looks very easy and user friendly !BKarchitect wrote:Good

Re: Project NHL 36 - a 2017-18 DB with 36 Team NHL/AHL/ECHL!
Hey! This looks really awesome. I tried to set up my own game, but every time I start a save it just crashes.
I edited some teams so it would be Seattle, Portland, Milwaukee, Houston, Quebec. Not sure why that would lead to it crashing, but that was the only change I made.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
Edit: It appears I made some mistake in changing what was the Saskatchewan team to Portland. I took the Portland Beavers AHL team by accident and turned them into an NHL team. The Whitetails ended up being playerless and not in the NHL yet still showing up. Not sure why that caused it to crash, but there it is.

Yes this is precisely the issue I described.BKarchitect wrote:Yeah that has to be it although I'm unsure how to fix it now so I saved it when it was being screwy.

The error message means that you have a mismatch between the number of senior national teams and the number of U20 national teams.
I took a look at your database. If you click on File -> Export Spreadsheet -> Clubs Spreadsheet in the Editor and use the filters in Excel to look at the list of teams with Professional Status of "National (Senior)" and then compare that with the list of "National (U20)", you will find that there are 224 senior teams but only 223 U20 teams. This is the cause of the issue. Taking a look through the lists, Zimbabwe U20 is the team that is missing. If you look in the Editor, you will find that you have two Zimbabwe teams; one which is correctly set as a senior national team and the other which is incorrectly set as a junior team. Change the junior team's status to National U20 and it's nation to Zimbabwe. By making these two changes, I was able to create a new game in EHM without the issue.

Re: Project NHL 36 - a 2017-18 DB with 36 Team NHL/AHL/ECHL!
Should be a new version of NHL36 (and NHL32 - Seattle) out this weekend. Just as a primer...
- Of course complete updated transactions...NHL, Minors, CHL, NCAA, NCAA developmental leagues and major Euro leagues including future contract extensions
- For Euro transfers that are already occurring for the 2018-19 season, I am moving the players to their 2018-19 club but loaning them back for 17-18 to the team they really played for. This should mimic real life pretty well and will let me transition the database to an official 2018-19 season database with relative ease by removing the loans.
- Players that have been released in Europe (again, the major leagues) but have not signed with a new team will remain with their 2017-18 club with contract ending in April '18.
- Retired players like Ehrhoff, Huet, etc have been retired however.
- YUUUGE update to the NCAA and feeder leagues. Besides actual NHL transfers (sorry, Daniel Brickley now signs with LA in May '18 - can't sign him for an expansion team) - I have added EVERY SINGLE 2018-19 NCAA commit as of today (30.3.18) to every Division 1 NCAA school. There are now over 800 future commits for 18-19 (and well beyond) in the extra config file...and players are rated and for the most part scouted a bit so it's not just a bunch of guys input with "0" for CA/PA. This has also hugely increased the player pool in feeder leagues like the USHL, NAHL, NCDC, BCHL, AJHL, OJHL, even prep hockey in Minnesota and New England etc, etc. So those leagues should feel more "real" now and the amount of prospects funneling into the NCAA should now keep the NCAA schools pretty full for at least a 3-4 year period (before the game, naturally, and frustratingly) begins to ignore the NCAA and NCAA feeder leagues with regens. My goal is to get every single commit (beyond 18-19) put into the game and committed to school which will take the list to nearly 1200 future committed NCAA players.
- Also the crop of '02 USNTDP commits have been added to the USNTDP along with a bunch more '02 Americans and quite a few more Canadians to start to fill out the OHL, QMJHL and WHL bantam drafts (the WHL is actually for '03s). Again, these are not "0" CA/PA guys just randomly added - for the most part these are top young players who, if you search hard enough, you can find some early scouting reports on and even mock CHL bantam drafts. This is just a start though, it's hardly comprehensive but it is very hard to find scouting reports and even DOB and vitals for kids who are 13, 14, 15 years-old.

Re: Project NHL 36 - a 2017-18 DB with 36 Team NHL/AHL/ECHL!
Not quite finishing up some NCAA recruit work...found a bunch of new scouting reports and rankings for 2002-born players so getting a boatload of them in there along with some midget/bantam team adjustments because of this. Have finished all currently committed recruits from the major Canadian Jr-A leagues (BCHL, AJHL, MJHL, SJHL, OJHL, GOJHL, CCHL, etc), the Tier I & II USA leagues (NTDP, USHL, NAHL, NCDC) and all the currently committed Minnesota high school recruits. Almost done with all the NE Prep School recruits and have a good chunk of the younger bantam/midget kids from Tier1, HPHL, etc. Once I get all the NE Prep kids in (because it's a very important feeder for the Hockey East/ECAC colleges), I'll release the next version of the DB (plus NHL32) and then pick up the remaining recruits and some additional highly ranked non-committed recruits in the future.
The NCAA and American prospect pool should be super healthy by then, at which point some more draft guides for the 2018 CHL bantam drafts will be out and I'll flesh out '02 and '03 born Canadian prospects. The top ones (top dozen or so) in each CHL league are in there already but I'd like to get a couple rounds of fairly accurate '02/'03 prospects in there for each league and flesh out some of the '01 prospects who are drafted but yet to appear for their CHL club.

Re: Project NHL 36 - a 2017-18 DB with 36 Team NHL/AHL/ECHL!
Playing as Quebec in the Great North database, can't seem to get past Updating Game data on June 29th, 2018 (the first year). Tried it 7 or 8 times, always crashes. Playing with only NHL and AHL on enhanced, with a GM in both leagues. Can't think of anything bizarre I might have done during the season. Only other "mods" I have installed are face packs and logo packs. I just started with no players, didn't do any fancy drafting or importing.
Anyone experience this or have any tips to get around it?
I've tried switching resolutions/windowed mode. Verified integrity of files on steam and uninstalled/redownloaded the game. Tried going on vacation to get past the 29th. Also restored a save from before the draft and tried again from there.
That first year was brutal and a lot of work, hate to do it again.

Sorry, don't know what it could be. Just ran a game thru 2027 with virtually identical settings (also with CHL and NCAA on enhanced). Sometimes EHM just throws a wrench into things without logic. I've never tested the DB as a GM in both the NHL and AHL but I can't imagine that it caused the issue. I hear ya about that first year especially if you are starting your expansion team from scratch - it's a lot of invested time to lose.Sucker Punch wrote:Playing as Quebec in the Great North database, can't seem to get past Updating Game data on June 29th, 2018 (the first year). Re: Project NHL 36 - a 2017-18 DB with 36 Team NHL/AHL/ECHL!
NHL36 version 4.0 Update - ***END OF REGULAR SEASON 2017-18 UPDATE*** April 8, 2018
As we head into the off-season for many leagues around the world but still have our minds on the 2017-18 season, I wanted to make sure this database reflects 2017-18 rosters & contractual conditions but with an eye towards everything that has been happening since many leagues are finishing up and moves are being made with the 2018-19 season in mind. With that said, here's a little rundown:
- NHL: All transaction for THIS (2017-18 season) are updatd along with constantly adjusted ratings and depth charts. Future transaction that are already announced for the 18-19 season - signings of players from the CHL, NCAA and Europe - are all coded into the config file. So they will all happen in this database after the 17-18 season completes to maintain a realistic 2017-18 format. Most of these future signings occur on June 1 so that that year 1 of new contracts falls in 18-19...however, a few high profile NCAA and Euro prospects (Tolvanen, Sikura, etc) sign and immediately burn the first years off their entry-level deals so these types of player will actually sign on May 1, and it will burn a year from their deal in the 17-18 season. Retiring guys like the Sedins and Vrbata will retire at the conclusion of the 17-18 season.
- NCAA: Biggest update here, as mentioned in posts above. Over a thousand future commits starting in the 18-19 season and going all the way (right now) to the 21-22 season (for a few high profile young prospects) are in the config file. ALL USHL, NAHL, NCDC, Minnesota High School, New England Prep, CJHL (BCHL/AJHL/MJHL/SJHL/GOJHL/OJHL/CCHL/MJHL) and USNTDP prospects who are committed to Division 1 NCAA Hockey are in the game as well as numerous other Bantam and MM aged top prospects. My goal is to finish out the about 100 additional very young prospects who are committed and not yet in the game within the next few weeks.
- USports: Also started future transferring CHL players headed to USports college next season...one day I would like to have USports fleshed out as much as the NCAA is...not there yet though.
- CHL: Also as mentioned, have started fleshing out 2018 CHL draft classes a bit. The OHL draft has already happened so those players who I already had in the database now have OHL rights added. So Quinton Byfield's rights belong to Sudbury and Evan Vierling's belong to Flint, to name a couple examples. Guys like Antonio Stranges and Cole Perfetti are committed to the NCAA but do have OHL rights...usually they honor their college commitment but it may be possible to get them to play in the OHL. My goal is to get the top 3 rounds of 2018 OHL draftees completely in the game by the next update. The WHL draft is in May and I don't believe the Q draft is until June but there are already a handful (a dozen or so each) of highly-regarded potential draftees in there for both leagues.
- EUROPE: Of course I limit my comments on Europe to the major leagues (KHL, SHL, LIIGA, Extraliga, NLA, DEL) but contract extensions are updated and future transfers for 2018-19 are in there. How I did it, again, to preserve the integrity of the 17-18 season, is for players switching teams in 2018-19, they are listed with a contract for those teams in the database but loaned back for one year to the team they are really on in the 17-18 season.
- AHL: A handful of graduating AHL/CHL players have earned full AHL contracts for 18-19, so they are in the config as future transfers. PTO's are not included.
- PTO (Player tryouts): I do NOT include PTO's in the database - these are temporary tryouts and not full annual contracts. So the horde of graduating NCAA and CHL players you see getting ATO's in the AHL and ECHL are not included until they earn permanent deals - they will then be added as a future transfer in the config file.
Of course, feel free to tinker with Expansion Draft results with the Expansion Draft toolkit for NHL36, released with version 2.7 of the database (link below as well):

Re: Project NHL 36 - a 2017-18 DB with 36 Team NHL/AHL/ECHL!
This is amazing - thanks for all your work BKarchitect
ps - Is there any way to get a current start or future start date when playing 2.7 ? Feels kind of weird to start in Summer 2017

You can change the start date in archi's Editor, pre-game only.smdesroches wrote:This is amazing - thanks for all your work BKarchitect

I'll probably officially roll both NHL36 and NHL32 over to a 2018-19 season start date after the 2018 NHL Entry Draft. For now - feel free to do so on your own, just know that it will affect junior leagues quite a bit as a big chunk of rosters will become overage or completely in-eligible due to age...although a good thing is that the game should read the thousands of future transfers in the config file and at least update all those signings.
I have tried to strike a compromise, like I said, by making sure roster moves that are being made right now in real-life don't come into effect in NHL36/32 until after the 17-18 season in the game as well - but we are in a bit of an "in-between zone" at the moment. The TBL sets are your "start of 17-18" database where everything is set based on the beginning of the season while I believe xECK's database is always as updated as possible - think of NHL36/32 as a bit of a middle ground (besides the obvious fantasy aspect of the league structures) - transactions from the 2017-18 season are updated while transactions for the 2018-19 season (and beyond) that are announced are in the game but as future scripts in the config file. There's no right way or wrong way at this awkward point in the year.

Thanks for explanation - makes sense. I'll wait until the draft in that case.
I just finished Season 1 of NHL32 and I'm enjoying playing with the Totems

I'm new to using the project but I don't think I'm doing anything wrong. I'm getting a crash when creating a new game. It happens each time on the "initializing game data" just before the bar fills up. I've tried with two different versions. I saw that somebody had this issue previously but there was no direct response. Am I doing anything wrong?
Thanks for your time and this db looks fantastic!

I'll take a look - plan on doing a quick update (Kovalchuk to NYR, OHL draft results, etc) probably in the next couple days. The old one used to do this but it should be fixed...I can start a game no issues as we speak from the last 4.0 update.

Did a "flash" update to the 4.0 rosters above, same links will get you the updated set as of this posting. No huge changes but Kovalchuk coming back across the pond to the Rangers for the 18-19 season and have a bunch of updates based on the 2018 OHL draft...first two full rounds plus most of the third and top USA player rights all updated for the OHL. Antonio Stranges is now coming to London instead of going to the University of Michigan and I've hedged my bets with Perfetti getting dealt and reporting to Oshawa. Lots of major Euro league contract updates/extensions for 18-19 and beyond as well. And added a bunch of top 2003 USA kids...look out for Martin St. Louis' son Ryan in the 2021 NHL draft, he's a chip off the old block. Will do an updated "Wonderkids" post soon for guy to be aware of in future drafts!

I'm not sure that Kovalchuk signed anywhere just yet. He supposedly said to a Russian media that he doesn't even have any discussions ongoing. Here's a link to a tsn.ca article about that. Warning : Auto-play video as soon as the page loadsBKarchitect wrote:Did a "flash" update to the 4.0 rosters above, same links will get you the updated set as of this posting.
