What makes a player a 1st line player?

Post by Weasel »

Hi all, long time since I have been on here but I am still playing EHM:EA, incredibly addictive. Anyway, I was messing around in the editor and I took a player who is rated by my scouts as a 3rd line player, CA134, PA156. Just for giggles I pushed up his stick handling, slap shot, wrist shot, positioning and deflections to the 17s but he still remained as a 3rd liner when scouted again. I increased is CA to 174, PA174 and still no change. All the other of his abilities are 59+ except for aggression and flair, which are low (red).

I read threads on PA and CA but nothing really said CA of 160 = 2nd line. In EHM07 the higher the CA the higher the role on the team, it was easy, just increase the CA/PA and his line went up. Is it a culmination of all his stats totaled for EA? I compared him to one of my 1st line players after being modified and he is the same, maybe slightly lower but not much.

If this has been answered before I apologize.

Thanks.

Did you change his reputation?

No, didn't do that, I thought REP only affected the trade and waiver desire of a team. As an update, after several games my scouts listed him as 2nd line, so something happened but not sure what.

Pretty sure Rep affects what line he plays on.

A few of the U.K. guys had quite low reps compared to their CA (a holdover from older databases maybe)?

I did wonder why Doucet at MKL always played 4th Line or got released in my play-tests; adjusted his current rep to closer to his CA though and he was playing top-line (he’s a top-6 player for MKL in real life).

Try the guys ‘current rep’ and see if it helps?

Well that did work. Took a 3rd liner checking forward and doubled his rep from 3300 to 6600 and scouted him again, suddenly he was 2nd line checking forward with the same stats that made him a 3rd. I always thought the ability scores determined how he was ranked, but it seems not? So I could have a guy with all red stats, and a rep of 8000 and it would call him a 1st liner.
