Project NHL32 - Seattle Edition (2018-19 Season)

BKarchitect wrote: Sat Jun 30, 2018 9:29 am What leagues are you selecting? What does the crash say or does it just close? What screen is it crashing at or what is the point in the startup that it is crashing?

Need a bit more info...
1. So I've been trying to play with all leagues running except the 3 that are greyed out as part of the db.
2. I've added key staff, extra junior players, players to national team pools, retained all teams, and selected full db with early US start date (July 2).
3. I make it to initializing game data screen & then "Eastside Hockey Manager has stopped working."

That's the same every time I try again. I have not yet tried subtracting playable leagues one by one to see if there's a change.

Thanks again for any help here.

I've had the same issue with startup crash. My work around was to deselect the NAHL (As advised previously in this thread, and the entire Great Britain leagues. Works like a charm every start up now. NAHL is bypassable sometimes by clicking OK to the error that comes up, but I'd rather just not include it. But 100% in Great Britain, every other (clickable) league is checked off.

-Edit-
The crash happens during game data initialization, before it begins loading rosters. Tested: Specifically the Elite league

BKarchitect wrote: Thu Jun 28, 2018 1:44 pm Just a heads up, I've noticed some interesting trends in my testing of "combining" lower levels of leagues to try and de-clutter and simplify the database...

- Because the OHL and QMJHL drafts pull from midget-level hockey, by combining midget level Canadians teams, I've reduced the pool for the Canadian draftees from those provinces and now I am seeing them populate the U.S. major midget leagues. So I will probably re-expand the OHL/QMJHL midget levels to release some of that pressure.

- In contract, since the WHL pulls bantam level kids for the draft, the game is populating all the Eastern Canada and Central Canada bantam leagues with kids from out west because my contraction again restricted the number of teams that could be populated. And since the OHL and QMJHL pull from midget not bantam, the bantam levels in Central and Eastern Canada have plenty of space to accept these Western Canadian kids. So again, here I will re-expand the bantam levels out west more fully to give them more generation possibilities.

All in all, it's not that big a deal if you mainly play the NHL or other pro leagues and the CHL still functions perfectly fine but in the pursuit of some realism, you like to see kids in their respective CHL drafts coming from the bantam and midget leagues of that region of Canada.

Also, forgot to tell my U18 and U17 levels of the USNTDP to be restricted to Americans so they keep getting populated by Canadians!
I've noticed this and began putting teams back where they belong. The GTHL is a huge league, and draws a ton of OHL stars, and future NHLers. Not only that, but the South Central AAA as well as Alliance pavilion (Two leagues I'd rather see combined) is smack dab in the middle of where I live, so when I chose the Guelph Storm, I like to draw some later picks specifically from the Jr. Gryphons.

Also, if possible, (not important at all) the Guelph Hurricanes have moved to Cambridge, and are hence forth known as the Cambridge Red Hawks. The previous Cambridge Jr B team owner (of the Winter Hawks) is thoroughly widdled. I see no reason they would no longer be the Affiliate of the Guelph Storm (OHL), who have also undergone a logo change.;)

Thanks to everyone that made suggestions. I've gotten it working now based off of the advice of deselecting the NAHL, GB League, & the whole country if one of the leagues is greyed out by default.

Is there a specific event that happens on November 10/11 annually? I finally got everything in order on a game, and now my game crashes each time I attempt to sim to Nov 11/18.

Nothing has been documented so far. But if you try to sim over Oct 1, Jan 1 or Apr1 with your scouts scouting the draft it will crash at this time.

The Scout\Draft\Dates I knew, reading and following this thread. With some testing I've found my crash is involved with the OHL team. I run the Guelph Storm and it seems at a couple times a year(so far) when I have players in the OPJHL, the system crashes. However if I bring them up, I can sim through to the next day. I've sent them back down now (1 at a time to see if it was a certain player) and I can continue to sim away. Not sure the cause, I'll keep track of the dates in the next season. Nov 10, and Feb 22 seem to be the two that have stopped me so far.

So it seems to me, that with the combining of the Junior/minor leagues, what has happened is that the OHL teams with Junior B affiliates (Guelph Storm, Guelph Hurricanes Jr.B) or (Kitchener Rangers, Kitchener Dutchment Jr.B), have farm teams with no playing league. All Junior B teams were moved out in place of the "Canadian Central Junior B." So now there are active teams with no active competition, and every so often (Dates still make no sense yet) it randomly says 'oh wait I can't deal with this' and crashes. I'm currently in the midst of moving Junior B teams back to their rightful competition (Hopefully it works in my saved game just fine) and I feel it is safe to assume this will stop any future crashing. The only time I believe this would be an issue, is if you happen to play any CHL team, which, by the way, requires "Extra junior players" on startup, or else the first (second and third maybe too) drafts will be nearly empty. Like, 20 selections, sort of empty.

Thanks for the input guys.

As far as crashes while playing primarily as a CHL team, all I can say is that while I try to keep things accurate (in terms of current CHL rosters) and future NHL prospects), the emphasis on this database is the NHL and theoretical (or real in the case of Seattle) expansion scenarios. You are free to download and edit the database as you see fit, as listro has done but the emphasis will continue to be more on the NHL experience.

I have "un-packed" many of the top Midget and Bantam leagues for the next update so the GTHL, HEO, Hockey Alliance, Eastern AAA, SCTA, etc Ontario midget leagues, the CSSHL, Alberta AAA Bantam, etc and Quebec, Nova Scotia, etc midget leagues so that the behavior of EHM in terms of adding new generated players to supply the CHL will be more accurate but the Junior B/C leagues and most of the US high schools and Junior Tier III leagues will still be consolidated. The nice thing about recreating many of the Canadian midget/bantam leagues from scratch is I've been able to fully update those leagues/teams/team colors/team logos. But for a "full" experience for all the multitudes of youth and minor junior levels I'd still recommend trying out xECK's or TBL's rosters as it will never be my goal to have every single league possible.

Update is taking a while also because I have been tweaking every single NHL team depth chart and prospect pool with input from not only EP and THN's depth charts but surfing every single club's HFBoards forum and SB Nation page for articles and potential rosters/depth charts for the upcoming 2018-19 season - so a lot of tweaking to start to decline older vets and keep improving potential NHL rookies for 2018-19 - or at least guys each fan base considers as potential breakout players/prospects who can challenge for spots. Again - I see the point of a 2018-19 database not to reflect the past but to anticipate the future. I'll also likely re-implement an expansion draft file setup for Seattle as most of the UFA's out there are now signed so it is increasingly hard to put together an even remotely capable Seattle (or all the other clubs in NHL36) from just the UFA pool.

Thanks!

Also un-packed and updated all the major midget leagues in the US...many were badly in need of updating (HPHL, Tier 1, NAPHL, USPHL Midget, AYHL). :-D

Part of the length of this update is ensuring all the logos are updated in "dani9" style as well with the larger medium team logos and glossy button small logos. Lots of updated logos, colors and a lot of re-naming to ensure compatibility with NHL32/36. Next update will have another logo addendum pack to ensure all US/Canadian leagues and clubs in NHL32/36 are updated to the same style.

The latest update didnt include an expansion roster via the editor. If you click add extra players to teams it will automatically give you generated players

LordTony - I am working on an update for the Expansion Draft but for now, you have to build your team through free agency to begin. Look at it as a challenge!

NHL32 Update - see NHL36 thread. Those of you wanting Quebec with Seattle - your prayers have been answered! :-D

NHL32 v7.1 Update

DATA UPDATES
- The usual...major transaction updates around the world and lots of tinkering with future college, junior and draft prospects. Caught quite a few KHL re-signings that were missed in 7.0 and latest NHL movements include the Skinner trade.

DRAFTS
- Big news with 7.1 is incorporation of Expanion Draft results in an Expansion Draft files that accompanies each version of the DB. Run the file in the Archi's EHM editor to stock each of the new NHL teams.
- I'll update the Seattle starting roster below this post - they will have a different look in NHL32 than in NHL36 because they are the only expansion club picking in NHL32, similar to how Vegas picked last year.

NOTES
- Refer to the NHL36 thread for the North American Logopack that goes with NHL32 (and NHL36).
- Remember that in the Seattle & Quebec edition of NHL32, Arizona has moved to Quebec (entire roster, staff, prospect rights, etc). I've updated the config file in v7.1 which was still reading Arizona for draft picks swaps and extensions in v7.0.

Here's the Seattle Expansion Draft Roster for NHL32. It should be a relatively competitive team...strong up the middle, some solid defenders, good goalie depth and a nice blend of vets who aren't too long in the tooth and some prospects with upside. Enjoy! And of course, feel free to tweak the results for your own starting roster!

Great work on this.

In a previous post, it was noted there was a bug with Auston Matthew's salary. It seems this bug affects other really good players who are on an ELC as well. For example, Laine, Point, and Guentzel all start off making a lot of money, which causes salary issues for teams like Tampa and Pittsburgh. I also noticed this affected Sissons and some other players, with their starting salary way over what it is when you look in the editor.

I didn't see options in the editor for contracts other than salary and length, so I really didn't get a chance to play with it and find out what's going on.

Thanks for the heads up, I'll look out for this - all I did to fix Matthews was bump his salary up from his real salary by like $25,000 a year and it went away. I'm not sure what the cause of it is. I thought it might be just guys on their last year of ELC but Sissons is on his second contract.

No worries. I did wind up bumping Point and Guentzel to $925,000, and they were fine . . . but this did not work for Laine. I suspect if it was bumped further, it would probably work, but I'm just curious why the game would decide to evaluate their worth vs. just use what's in the database.

I have weird issue with this database, I can't see players' favourite teams and staff. It just doesn't show them in the info screen. For example, when I watch Henrik Lundqvists information, it shows that he is proud to be playing in Rangers and so on, but there are now favourite teams or staff visible. When viewing the database in the editor I see that the favourite teams and staff are there, they just don't show.

Yeah, it's a bug I've known about - I have ZERO idea why that info (which as you said is in the database) does not show up. :dunno:

Love it as always ! Got an OHL fix for you and a recent change, I do it myself for my games but just in case you want to fix it: Shaw Boomhower, Winger: Enforcer, but ratings are under LD & RD instead of LW & RW. Been that way for awhile so I just thought I'd mention it for you. Also just recently Luke Burghardt of the North Bay Battalion announced he's retiring on doctors advice due to spinal injury … drat, he was our second in scoring last year and one of our 3 overagers for the upcoming season !
