Being the lazy *ss I am, I didn't find any notable topics in 2 minutes of searching discussing the main question I'm want to ask:

Is there any way to open a league, let's say Finnish League/SM-Liiga for example so there could be a playout series between Liiga's last team and Mestis winner? I know it's closed IRL but sucks to play with minor Finnish teams that I would like to help achieve ''greatness'' when your journey stops in Mestis.

Yup definitely possible with some schedule and structural tinkering of the leagues.

Was thinking about adding this to NHL36 for Liiga/Mestis - because that database has a bit of a fantasy bent anyways (although based on real life), I’m not tied to making everything 100% realistic. You could then use that as a template to tweak TBL or xECKs database on your own if you prefer (NHL36 only goes down to Suomi-sarja so may not have the “minnows” you are looking for). I suspect those databases to continue to want to be as realistic as possible and true to real life with things such as this though.

It would be fun to see Espoo (in this case the new K-Espoo club) back in Liiga!

This seems like a fun challenge!

Say I start in the lowest league with a a team with really low finances - does the team get more money/player budget as it's reputation etc grows or is it doomed to be in a financial hell?

I'd be happy to know about this too, and how finances work when being promoted to a bigger league with a "small" team..

I've heard that this is an issue with recently added leagues. I saw on the internet that players who started their careers with teams from Swedish 1. division or lower Czech leagues experienced difficulties with a budget remaining on the same (low) level despite being promoted to higher leagues. I think that the best solution could be increasing team's budget in a game editor to a level of another teams in league. Although, I'm not a 100% sure if it works, as I've never tried to manipulate with saved games in the editor.

Well, i've played EHM 07 and EHM1 about 4000hrs each and at least for me in both games the budget depended on the owners attributes and player salaries+budget. I'm not completely sure though but you should make the salaries lower than your budget before july in-game. It gets tough though because you really can't have a good roster with low budget teams.

Though like it was said above, you can edit team finances in pre-game editor.

What I meant with ''minor leagues'' was exactly Mestis & Suomi-sarja because IRL there is no chance for Mestis teams to be promoted to Liiga which I think makes the game and playing more boring (for me at least). With Suomi-sarja there is no problem 'cause it's teams are open for being promoted to Mestis. I dont even remember if some team from below Suomi-sarja ever promoted :D

Just wanna know how it could be done (not much of an editor myself)

I added a relegation/promotion league between Liiga and Mestis in the next version of NHL36. Works like a charm. Suomi-sarja clubs Hokki and K-Espoo have made it to Liiga in 2022 in my latest test sim. Although keep in mind in NHL36, you can only be a human GM at Liiga and Mestis levels so you can’t control current Suomi-sarja teams until they get promoted in the game on their own to at least mestis.
