Is there a way to disable to extremely annoying rules that allows your board to set a maximum amount you can spend on players?

Like right now, playing the Sharks, I have 14 millions cap space but the board won't allow me to give more than 10 millions to Erik Karlsson, which makes it impossible for me to sign him.

I find this rule to be extremely anti-fun and unrealistic, even if you consider the real life situation of the Sharks, who just recently offered Tavares 13 millions.

What player status does Karlsson have? Key player? The status is a big factor in how much money you can give a player and if it's too low, you'll be cut off.
