Canada's National Team Not Hiring Players?

Something is up with Team Canada in my DB, half the roster has grey players and they never seem to sign any new ones for tournaments so they are quickly being relegated. This is the strangest thing! Has anyone experienced this before?

Also, how are the national team rosters set? It looks like it's a fixed list, where can that be changed?

Have you tried taking control of them in-game? Is it possible as a human GM to pick players and hire staff for the team?

Looks like I fixed it, I had Peters and Burke assigned to the men's team (Head Coach and GM) but it looks like the contract length wasn't proper. Once I removed them everything was fine, going forward I may not set national team positions initially.

Would like to still know how these rosters are set on the start of the game though.

I always thought the players gets chosen by reputation

There has to be some sort of other criteria though no? Maybe I'm just overthinking it

The one time I played as the national team GM I remember I had to invite players to the team but first I had to get rid of some of the roster shown to make a spot open for them.
