GUIDE: Editing league rules and structures in EHM 1

Post by archibalduk »

I have been writing a guide on how to add new playable leagues and edit league rules and structures in Eastside Hockey Manager 1. Here is a very early draft version: https://1drv.ms/u/s!AsXFKQMOdPqgiG_J9DKy5OIyodw-

It is taking a lot of time to write as there is so much to cover. I want to make the guide as easy to possible and so the first example covered in the guide is mostly a number of tables setting out what values to set the various settings along with a basic explanation where needed. I want to add some extra examples and include some more detailed explanation on the mechanics/inner workings of the rules and structures (among other things).

As mentioned, this is a really early draft. There are lots of blank/incomplete chapters and I have not proof-read it properly yet. However, Chapters 2 and 3 are pretty much complete and the first example (Chapter 5) is complete. So if you read through those chapters, you should be able to add your first simple league to a database.

I thought I'd upload this now in case anybody is interested and/or has any feedback, etc. In the meantime, I'm going to continue working on the guide... :tiptap:

P.s. Let's keep this thread for feedback on the guide and discussing anything covered by it (such as the examples). More general queries about rules and structures can be asked in a separate thread.

Here are a couple of sample pages from the guide:

How do I setup promotion/relegation between British NIHL and the NIHL North/South via a relegation playoff format? I'm sure somebody will have explained how to do this on the forums before so if you could direct me to it that would be awesome. I'm a Bradford Bulldogs fan and would love to be able to take them all the way up the British Ice Hockey pyramid using the TBL rosters database.

Thanks

No I don't think anybody has explained this before but you could try a forum search to be sure. The way to do it would be to find another league which has relegation playoffs (such as the Allsvenskan <--> Swedish Hockey League IIRC) and then replicating the relevant stages from those competitions.
