I think I'll do three brothers: one goalie, one defender and one forward. PA -15, same as Sainio. Not sure which country to pick as their home.

I'm thinking maybe UK. I'm for some reason curious towards UK hockey, although admittedly know nothing about it. :-k

Three Americans from Texas. Go with the stereotypes and you'll have something funny to tell. :-D :-p

Hah! Could be fun. :D But I don't really want to start in the US, because Sainio has been in the US so much. I want a change.

Would they be Brit-nationals or ‘Imports’?

If they’re imports you’d not get all three in the same team unless they were at the top-level in Britain. (Though you could still tell a story if they went to a team like the Edinburgh Capitals in the Elite League).

Maybe just Brits. I'm really going ahead of myself here. Sainio is still unfinished, I don't know! :-D

... but if I'd go with Britain, I wouldn't mind some basic info on how the junior system works. I'm about 80% decided I'd go there. :-k

I only have one thing to say.

Hall of fame! :notworthy:

I've read every Toni Sainio-story you've written. Thank you very much, Tasku!

Thank you very much, Manimal, I'm glad you stuck through it. It's been a long haul, and there have been ups and downs. Maybe after a short (few months... years!) break I'll start another one. :-)

I've finally started a new hockey story, similar to the earlier Sainio-story. This time it's called Three Brothers, because there are three players to follow. The name is misleading, as they are not actually brothers, but close friends.

Check it out at the Blogs and Stories forum! :-)

Taking a little long to get the first year done. I've taken steps to "hurry it up" a bit. Simulating when I have the chance, not only when I had decided I'd do so.

I've played with the idea of writing a career story ever since I started playing EHM.

Now I've started one and you can see it here:

https://www.ehmtheblueline.com/forums/v ... 36#p242336

It's a story of a GM career but also a story of many individual players of interest

Since there are some unusual happenings on that career, I felt it would be a good idea to explain a few things about this career:

  • I'm telling the story as it unfolds on my own playthrough. My reports are based on notes written by the time of the events 'blind to the future'
  • I play one season at a time and report the results after each season.
  • In case my team reaches the playoffs i write the regular season report before playing the playoffs. Playoffs results will thus be unknown to me
  • To add flavor and to keep myself interested I made two or three little small alterations at the very beginning. All the rest is 100% unedited EHM
  • I try to balance between putting a lot of effort into realism but at the same time have the story include unusual and unexpected features
  • Rules: 1.no cheating; 2.no exploits; 3.only realistic contracts and trades; 4.make deliberate errors and mistakes to simulate 'the human factor'
  • As much as possible I keep to my plan even if results are bad and even if I make wrong choices or deliberate errors
  • Everything written about my team or the players is based on real in-game events: no pure imagination is allowed
  • I faithfully follow a certain philosophy as a GM and see what happens. No min/maxing, no OP tactics etc.
  • I have given myself a long list of further rules all limiting 'gamey' possibilities and making results as random and realistic as possible
  • I may update my blog posts with corrections or added information but not to 'change history'

Five years of the Ockey story almost finished (link on the previous post). I wonder if anyone has had the patience to crawl through all the text...

I'd like to ask for a bit of advice in any case. What's the best way to attach EHM screenshots on here? I'd like to add some to my story topic eventually. In fact the pics I have are jpg screen captures rather than in-program screen shots. Presumably I should use a hosting service with links, but what are the rules and recommendations on picture size and pixel height/width?

Thanks. And in case you did, thanks for reading too!

I would suggest something like flickr. I used to use Photobucket but they introduced very restrictive sharing for free accounts which rendered them pretty unusable unless you want to pay a subscription. Flickr is free and does the job well.

I don't think there's any specific recommendations for resolutions because the forum will shrink down images according the resolution of the viewer's web browser/mobile phone. I would suggest saving and uploading them at the original resolution.

Thanks, that's good to know. Should be pretty straightforward in that case.

Thanks for the interest! Sadly my OS got corrupted back when I was doing this series and I lost my game setup and logs as a result so I'm unable to continue the story. It was a fun ride for me though, to be sure!

I've been continuing to post my Geneva Eagles career story from freeware EHM. I also wrote a few years ago a player story about brothers Simon and Sebastien Lemieux that I kept up until about halfway through their careers and abandoned... I never posted it on here but I'll try to find it.

Finishing up my first season of my blog. I overestimated the AI being able to put together a solid team and somehow, I ended up setting all kinds of NHL records. Following the careers of the Tier 1 Elite League kids was a very time-consuming task as I pretty much figured out the scores of every game that the teams played. I'm looking forward to season two and seeing where everyone ends up. I know that some of the kids that were eligible for the WHL Bantam Draft were selected, but that's about it. I never thought that I would have 3 views, much less 30,000-plus views. To those that are reading, I say thank you for doing so!
