Speaking of Spector....just pulled this from his blog.
"The Chicago Blackhawks dealt Bochenski Saturday to the Boston Bruins in exchange for minor league forward Kris Versteeg and a conditional draft pick."
Bochenski must be getting tired of not fitting in. About the only time he was good was when everyone thought he was Ottawa's next star in training camp last year. since then.... I know nothing of Versteeg. Can someone tell me who wins this bad boy? Not that either GM is known for his smooth moves....

....u must be a Habs fan, right???
And also, I guess u arent serious....Chiarelli has been around only for about half a year and has brought Chara and Savard to a team who was totally broken from the GM who was there before him....but well, I guess its all in the eyes of the viewer, right??
About Bochenski: if he only does it half as good as he was when I had it in the game, than I would be happy!!!
He has really good numbers in the AHL: 66 points, 33 goals, in 35 games with Norfolk, but he still has to show what he can do in the NHL...hopefully he can grab his chance now!!! We need desperately somebody who can score!!!

I hope Bochenski is pretty good because Versteeg has been doing really well in Providence. I thought they were pretty high on him. Minty? Can you give some info on Bochenski?
I can't say I'd put much faith in a guy who on this team, with this roster and this year's injury situations still was only called up as a last resort and then saw limited play before being sent back to the AHL. His success in Ottawa was I think a classic case of luck (in linemates) over personal skill. From his bio at HF he also put up big numbers while playing on a line with Zach Parise. At I thought it was a great move for the Hawks at the time but he's pretty much been a zero-factor since coming to the team... "Can put up stong nmbers when on a line with highly skilled and dynamic playmakers" isn't exactly the thing I'd want to be the most glowing part of my scouting report and that seems to be Bo, also Bo don't know skating or defense so that can be a problem.
Chicago and Boston made a trade. Heh, I love that. Wirtz and Jacobs dealing with each other, such a shock! And then they trade 4th liner for 4th liner and a pick. darn, Tallon did well.
Heh...but I hear the Hawks are "on the verge" of getting Richards or Vinny for Khabibulin from T-Bay. At least the HNiC guys were talking about it last nite. Maybe they got the rumor from Eklund?
The day Wirtz trades salary problem for salary problem I'll eat a live Yak.
If it's Richards/Kuba/Prospect who scores in AHL but is an NHL 4th liner from T-Bay for Cullimore, Aucoin, Khabibulin and Toews then I'd say you bet. But I'm sure they're still laughing about how much the Hawks are paying Cullimore and would still be too smart to do such a deal
They were just interviewing Pitt GM Shero between periods and the deadline sibject came up and he said "Well, with the deadline being earlier this year we've been checking around but the price is high since there's about 25 teams buying and like 7 selling, so we have to determine what we want to pay as the price is high."
To me that seems to echo the idea that things will go down to the wire this year and teams will really have to pony up if they want to make an impact move.
I'm pretty happy with the returns so far on the Avery and Conroy trades. I hope we can get something with the rest of our veterans with no place in the future.
Kessel is the shootout master! Good to see Bochenski do something right off the bat. Maybe now he'll get a fair shake with Dave Lewis? I'm still waiting to see what happens with Stuart, Sturm, and Primeau. I'd love to keep Stuart (if he can be re-signed) but want the other two to go.
I'm sure Stuart will sign someplace in California when he becomes a UFA (his wife is a Californian and wants to move back there) but I don't think the Bruins will be stupid enough to let him go without getting something in return. It's not like the Bruins are in playoff contention. Even if they could sneak into the playoffs, they'd be a first round exit. They'll make sure they get something for him.
I don't think many teams are willing to go get Stuart, knowing he'll leave come July. Even if you do get a taker, I don't think you'll get his true value.
There are plenty of teams trying to get him (last I read was 10 teams). The only thing holding a deal up right now is that Chiarelli's asking price is very high. The closer we get to the deadline, the more teams will be willing to give up for him. Stuart has a very low cap number for his caliber and teams that might be missing that one piece of the puzzle will want to add him for their playoff run... even if there is a risk he will leave July 1st. Plus, being on a winning team might that makes a good playoff run might consider him to resign with them.

We're not far off. We've had to deal with Cloutier and, more importantly, Crow's inexplicable love for Cloutier. With Burke/Garon, we've actually been a decent opponent. Getting rid of guys like Tverdovsky and replacing them with guys like Stuart would go a long ways towards winning.
Yeah Crow and Cloutier...Ugh. But, as for Crow bringing Cloutier to LA, I am pretty sure Cloutier was there before Crow. Maybe I am wrong, and sorry if I am, but maybe Dan convinced Lombardi to bring in Marc and not the other way around?
LA has been stuck in the middle. Apparently, they have decided to get rid of older vets (Conroy, Avery) that are not part of the future. I just do not see them making much of a push for Stuart. More bloody likely he goes back to the Sharks who are in need of presence on defense outside of Hannan and the kiddoes, are in California, and are a winning team. This pretty much solves all of Stuart's wants.
That being said, he will probably sign in LA...cause he ain't the sharpest knife in the drawer.
Cloutier was brought in after Crawford. That's really not what bothers me. It's that we continued to stick with him after Cloutier showed that he wasn't currently an NHL goalie for whatever reason (not that he ever has been...). Lombardi screwed up in giving Cloutier a 2-year extension before he had even played a game, but Crow has an undeniable love for Cloutier that exceeds the level of "soulmate".
