Shanahan & Knuble in bad collision

Post by Kekkonen »

Mike Knuble and Brendan Shanahan collided unintentionally about halfway through the third period of the Philly - Rangers -game. Shanahan stayed lying on the ice motionless for a **long** while. Thankfully, he did move his feet when he was carried out on a stretcher with his head and neck tightly secured. Didn't look good. Good luck, Shanny, hope it isn't serious.

Ouch. Hope his neck and brain are okay...

This guy merit to finish his career on his skate, not in a wheelchair

Scary....Brendan is apparently doing okay (well as okay as can be I guess). Ron MaClean says he is chatty as ever. Good luck Brendan. Knuble apparently came out of it with an eye injury. So hopefully Mike is okay as well. Best to both.

CBC said Shanny overnight in hospital, but doing okay. Knuble has broken orbital bone and likely out for season. Ouch

The news sounds like things didn't turn out as bad as they originally looked on the ice. Phew. That's good news.

I finally saw the clip on ESPN, that was a pretty nasty crash. They said Shanahan was released today and hes doing better than they were expecting, but there hasn't been a set date for him to be back yet.

It sounds like Shanny might've come out of that whole mess in better shape than Knuble. When everyone first saw it they were worried about Shanny but Knuble is out for the season with a fractured orbital socket. Tough break.

Yeah, Shanny is out of the hospital already. Knuble was the one worst hurt in the end, but I think it's natural to worry more initially about the guy who stays down for a good 10 minutes and has to be carried off the ice.

Good to hear things are mainly okay... tough break for Knuble as those eye socket injuries are gruesome. He's very lucky it didn't splinter into his eye so he should be fine after recovery but I guess it's not a pretty thing to go through as it whacks your sinuses, vision and equilibrium all out of shape.

I'm going to do a quick edit on the topic so I don't have to keep thinking about it
