Weird Things

Post by V4ND3RP00L »

How many of you have experienced weird things with your EHM teams while you play the game?

One of the things that I can remember is that I was running the Sabres and I guess it was a little after December. I had a big game coming up against the Devils and all of my players started to get the flu and a bad flu at that. Because everyone who got it was out for 2 weeks without playing. Needless to say, it started with just a few. Then about 3 days later, boom... the whole team had it. So I had to resort to calling up all my AHL players and trying to get them ready.

Really just crazy how some stuff can really happen in that game.

So if anyone else has experienced that or anything different, please share. It's always kind of nice to see what happens to other people.

Re Flu: As soon as one gets it, put him on the IR immediately. IR treats him like he is in isolation, and should slow, if not stop the spread.

But was the date 1975 and the game in Philly? Cause if it was, then my point is moot.

I'll be sure to do that the next time around if it happens to one of my players. But since that time, I haven't seen it again.

There are some weird things happening every now and then. The scouting report on your next opponent is mostly a joke and some weird trades happening as well.

So Chicago made Keith available, which is a weird thing itself, I tried to lure them with a 3rd rounder they refused (I would've refused as well :D) but then I see him go for a 6th rounder and some really naff 23yo prospect to Atlanta.

I've waived Alex Burrows, no one wanted him then the next day I traded him for a 3rd round pick.. :D

At least the salary cap "free-for-all" waiving is corrected, no more Kyle Wellwood available for free the first season ;)

One year I called up Dylan Hunter at the start of the season, and he had to pass through waivers to go back down, so he was a constant scratch. Eventually, I offered him to everyone and got a 3rd rounder for him. The team that got him tried to pass him through waivers and I picked him up again. After about 2 weeks, I tried again and got a 5th rounder for him. Same thing happened; the other team tried to pass him through waivers and I claimed him. I got another 5th rounder for him and then the trade deadline passed.

Most player transaction things are due to The Cap and the roster limits so the program has to allow teams to do stupid things sometimes or your game would lock up. They might strike you as dumb but if they weren't done the game couldn't progress :dunno:

Just a note to let people know it's fine to point out wierd stuff but if this becomes an SI-board like "look at the stupid stuff this stupid game did in my version  " thread I'm locking and/or deleting it.

I've seen that kind of things only once in my Habs game, and it was all between AI teams, and made me laugh :p

23/02/07 (deadline day): The Thrashers traded Andy Sutton to the Wild for Wild 3rd round pick in 2007 and Wild 6th round pick in 2007.

25/02/07 (two days later): The Wild place Sutton on waivers, and he's claimed by the Thrashers :D

It seems that Wild's GM couldn't handle the pressure of the deadline and made a little mistake there :D

I like those funny things and won't complain on it. And heh! we're all more quiet when we make that kind of mistakes 8-)

Have no worries, you won't see that come from me. I was just curious to see of other stuff like that happened to people. Like I said, it wasn't something that made me hate the game. I kind of liked it, made me realize that things such as that can happen in real life scenarios.

Plus, it was fun to try and get through the rest of March with a decent win/loss record.

No Flames :)

I then traded it away with Sturm for Brian Campbell and a prospect, I think :)

However Wings were interested in him (I shopped him around) and were offering a 2nd rounder as well. I then offered them York and then gave me Hudler.

Mikhail Grabovsky was counted as a rookie in his first AND second season... so in the history, he has bot the 3rd and 4th most points for rookies... he also was runner up for the calder in his first year and won it in his second... both of the seasons were full seasons

One strange thing happened, it was the Flames that first signed Robyn Regehr to a 3 year deal in the offseason (fitted under the cap) just to trade him away two weeks later for a 5th rounder and a low level prospect (forgot who it was).

It should be hard-coded into the game that the Laughs NEVER win the Stanley Cup!

My one "Weird Thing" that sticks out in my mind is the exact opposite as yours: I have never ever seen a single sickness in EHM... ever. :thdn:

Weird for me in my 2011-2012 season, the CPU seems to be bent on hiring the most underqualified people for head coach positions in the NHL. Everytime someone gets signed or rumoured for the job, I look at their stats and see a lot of their attributes in the 40's and 50's range.
