Seems like it was true. New York also got a 3rd round pick in the deal.Systemfel wrote:Seems like the Oilers have sent M.A. Bergeron to the Islanders in exchange for the rights to Denis Grebeshkov.

For those interested, there is a cool article up on Hockeybuzz at the moment. No, it's not Eklund - it's a blog by a guy named Daniel Tolensky. He does a great job of breaking down where each team is when it comes to the trade deadline.
Hope some of you guys enjoy the read.

Glad you guys are enjoying it!Kekkonen wrote:Not only is it a good read, but it lists the 5 guys I traded away before the first trade deadline in my Bruins game!
I thought it was the most accurate representation of the trade deadline picture I've seen this year. I just wish he'd listed my Habs as vendors. One win over the Columbus Blue Jackets does not the playoffs make.

Cheers.

I would be glad to see the likes of Sturm, Tenkrat and York leave the B's....but except for Sturm who would take the rest of them???
Lets make a big package and send them to Edmonton for Lupul and a pick....would be nice, lol!!!
There is also a good read HERE

I still contend that if Dale can get anyone to give more than a few rolls of tape and maybe a bag of practice pucks for Cullimore he should pull the trigger. If he can get more than a pick for Aucoin? Again, see ya!
I'd like to see Smolinksi stay though as he always plays hard and is a good guy. As at every deadline when other team's fans are hoping they bring in that "last piece of the puzzle" etc. I am just hoping that the Hawks don't do something stupid.
EDIT: One thing that is quite clear at this point though is that Colorado really screwed themsleves in their dealing for Theodore last year...

Anaheim Ducks GM Brian Burke would like to add a player or two for his contending squad but is frustrated by the high asking price right now.
"The deals that have been put in front of me haven't been worth spending a lot of time on," said Burke. "They've been short, profanity-laced conversations. They ask for the same group of young guys and I'm not moving any of those guys for a rental (pending free agent).
"It's just not going to happen. I don't know if the prices are too high for other people but they don't suit me. I'm not interested in anything that's been thrown at me yet."
Burke was in on the Peter Forsberg trade talks last week but balked at the price when the name of Corey Perry came up. Other sellers are also going after the Ducks' best young players.
"They're very short conversations," said Burke. "If anybody doesn't know how to swear they should sit in on one of these conversations because they'd know in a hurry. ..
"We have good young players in our group and we're not putting them in deals for rentals. It's that simple."

Broken left index finger... in his first non-healthy scratch game in the last 6 I think it was.batdad wrote:I thought Cully left the game yesterday with an injury. Hard to dump an injured guy isn't it? And no offense, but how would Cully help anyone?

I don't know...is it a used water bottle? If so, we've got something to go on at least...Minstrel wrote:Broken left index finger... in his first non-healthy scratch game in the last 6 I think it was.batdad wrote:I thought Cully left the game yesterday with an injury. The overwhelming opinion following the GM meetings is that the pricetags are still wayyyy too high especially for "rental" players. So even teams that really wanted to get a deal done, like Carolina for example, weren't able to cement anything.
There is some talk of teams, especially those in the close races not wanting to wait until right up to Tuesday and maybe some things getting done this weekend. It does seem that there are going to be teams right up on the deadline still deciding if they want to pay the prices being asked and even if they think they can make a playoff push still.

Word is that Sturm re-signing is pretty much a done deal. 4 or 5 years. Not sure on how much per season. I'm not so sure how I feel about this either. When he's on his game, he's great! The problem is that he seems to disappear for stretches. I don't know. I think I would've liked to trade him for picks or prospects and then made his position available to a young player (either a guy already playing in Providence or somebody else). Then we could use the $2.5 - $3.5 Million (what folks are guessing he's going to get) that we saved and spend it on goaltending and/or defense in the offseason.

Anson Carter to Carolina for 5th round pick
Hmmm...that was all this guy could fetch? Heh. Thank god not coming back to Vancouver. Of course, all of this pending confirmation, but TSN reporting as a done deal.

Wow! A 5th rounder? It sounds like Columbus just wanted to get his salary off the books. I thought I had read something a while back where the Blue Jackets stated that they intended on keeping him. It's not like a 5th round pick can change someone's mind. As for Carolina, they're desperate for help with all their injuries lately, so I guess this is good for them.
