I stand corrected on Bryan Berard, everywhere now is confirming that he was waived. I apologize.

LOL @ Bulis, I told anyone who would listen that this was a bad pickup. Sure he scored 20 goals, but he kept getting benched in Montreal for a reason.

Funny, the first time Phaneuf starting playing great hockey, noone said he tailed off, or struggled defensively, or was overrated. Or Regehr, or that Iginla guy. But yeah, Bieksa has played far past expectations. And if you checked you would notice he has not really tailed off as you said TheHutch...he has 2 goals in the last 3 games, and is playing 30 minutes. Not really what I would call tailing off, but hey I am sure the reffing last night in the Flames game was finally good! :-D

If you listen to hockey people at all...including coaches, managers, and former players...they are all saying the same thing. Vancouver reminds them alot of the Flames from the pre lockout year, and Cliff Ronning added they look alot like 1994. So yeah, I guess they suck cause these guys are all saying they will lose in the final! :-D

Oh not to mention the fact that they are what since Xmas...something like 22-3-3. When Buffalo and Anaheim were pulling numbers like these the whole world said: They are unbeatable, so clearly the finalists this season. When the Canucks do it, people say...well what if Luongo gets hurt, what if Daniel gets hurt, and boy that Bieksa that Mitchell they suck! And BTW--If Bieksa sucks defensively, why would he get all the minutes against the other team's top line? And when he does...why would the Canucks shut that line down. SJ, Calgary, LA, Ana, Dal just to mention a few lately.

Just on TSN: Martin Biron has been dealt. My guess: Montreal. But the Habs would have to overpay to aquire such a goalie from a division rival.

Edit: Now RDS is saying Biron's traded to the Flyers. :-?

Edit 2: For a pick.

Martin Biron has been traded, not sure to who or for what yet though.

Was funny how TSN found out this info. THey had a guy stationed at the Leafs practice arena expecting to see the Leafs practice, but they decided not to skate and gave the ice to Buffalo. Just as a joke, the host in TSN central asked the reporter if Biron was on the ice, and he looked around for a minute and couldn't find him. :ha!:

15 seconds later, it cuts to one of the 'deal breaker's the guys who are suppose to have all the inside breaking news and he tells us that Biron has been traded. He doesn't know to who or for what, just that hes been traded. Thanks Genius. :-D

Edit: Supposedly the Flyers picked him up.

Edit 2: Also Ty Conklin to the Sabres.

That's quite the downgrade in goal for Buffalo. Wonder what they gave up for the Conklinator.

Word is Philly shipped the 1st Round pick from the Forsberg deal for Biron.

Buffalo would be silly to hang on to the pick. If they're smart they'll parlay it into some forward depth.

Biron will create a bit of a logjam in net in Philly. Nitty or Esche will get traded?

Also, I can officially insert my other foot into my mouth as Roberts HAS been traded to PIT for Noah Welch. At least I called the Rivet deal. :-D

Cheers and Happy Deadline Day!

"The Buffalo Sabres have sent goaltender Martin Biron to the Philadelphia Flyers in exchange for an undisclosed pick, and sent a fifth-round pick to the Columbus Blue Jackets for netminder Ty Conklin."

http://wgr550.com/sabres/fullstory.php?id=2204

Also, Laraque is headed to the Pens for Dan Carcillo and an 8th rounder.

TSN reporting Guerin traded to San Jose.

If true, SJ's PowerPlay just got waaaay scarier.

I don't understand the Biron deal. From Philly's point of view, that is. I do understand the Sabres decided that Miller is their man and they freed up some cap space for a potential move, but what the heck do the Flyers do with a 3rd goalie -- especially since the only thing they have to shoot for this season is the 1st overall pick?

I'm positive Anaheim goes after Bertuzzi now. I mean, every other top team in the West has made a move. Burke has to do something.

Guerin for a 1st, a prospect and Nieminen. Let the overpays continue. 5 years from now, and possibly this spring Nonis will look very good. Not only that, but there will be a big power shift in the NHL. These guys are nuts! But the Sharks are darn close, darn close. I would not want to play them in round 1 that is for sure.

So since Eklund is reporting it, we could be giving them Hoggan, not Mara.

Or maybe the rights to Mike Milbury, and Steve Kasper

SPortsnet.ca trade tracker has it as Mara...They are listening to Eklund apparently. Unless they gave him the scoop just so he could have something to say, and be actually right. To make him look good, and to make them look less stupid.

Holy cow!!!!

Ohhhh....I wouldnt like to see Mara leave!!!

I know he isnt having a good season, but it seems that he really like to be in Boston....but well, we will see and Eklund is more wrong than right...hopefully also in this case!!!

But Ward (thats Aaron, right??) for York would be nice :-D

Looks like Ekkie was right (for once!)

Ward just confirmed on TSN that Mara is going to NYR. He didn't know any other details of the deal, so there could be picks/other players involved.

Cheers.

I'm thinking it could be true because of salary issues. Aaron Ward is making around $2.25M next season (or somewhere around that). Mara is making around $3M. The Bruins are supposed to be close to the cap so... it's possible. I'm not sure I want to see Mara go. He's a local guy and he seems really happy to be playing in Boston. He hasn't had the greatest season but I attribute that to how Dave Lewis is using him. Also, Ward is 34 and I think Mara is under 30. So we're trading away a guy who is probably about to hit his peak and have some good years ahead of him for a guy who is probably in the twilight of his career. I'm not sure sure I like that.

TSN now has it listed as Ward for Mara on their trade tracker.

I also just saw that the Senators got Saprykin and a 7th rounder for a 2nd rounder.

Sporstnet reporting Ryan Smyth resigns in Edmonton. That is good news. I would hate to see him leave even for a minute. he is like Yzerman to me.

Ekkie says: Glen Murray may go to Det from Bos, Zubrus maybe to Anaheim, and Buffalo after Owen Nolan.

ETA: Sportsnet says Brad May to Anaheim...could Bertuzzi be far behind? They are like best buds. Won't help the Ducks ot have those two clowning in the room. Maybe Burke has not learned his lesson? Or maybe Bertuzzi won't go there anyway.

Supposedly, the TSN guys are saying Boston isn't done dealing. They're talking Murray to Detroit too. They had better get a good return!

EDIT:

TSN has May to Colorado.

Sportsnet must have Eklund watching TSN. Cause he said the same. :-D

Oleg Saprykin from Phx to Ottawa on TSN for a 2nd. TSN also has the May trade for Mike Wall (a prospect goalie)

Sportsnet: Bertuzzi to Detroit. They have apparently confirmed this one. No idea what went to Florida.
