We don't get Sportsnet or TSN around here so my exposure to Ekland is limited to what I read online at the various hockey sites I visit. It makes me wonder how this guy has a job. He sounds like a buffoon! Does he just talk out his butt all day?

Nah, sometimes he had comments come out the other end. You know, stuff like Stajan to Florida for Gary Roberts. Ummm 8 hoursafter Roberts to Pit was confirmed on TSN and Roberts waiving of his NO TRADE.

Eklund is horrible, but he'll only remain as bad as those who continue to pay him for his alerts of misinformation.

There's another goober out there, calls himself The Code. Think of him as Eklund, only a lot more self-absorbed. If you happen upon his site, you'll see a guy hawking his exclusive extra news and subscription blogs based on his "success rate". But this is the same guy who last year stated Bertuzzi was being traded to Montreal, so not only does he glorify himself but he will never acknowledge that he made a mistake.

This, my friends, is the darkside to the internet. Wanna-be experts fleecing the public.

Hmmmm...an idea. Think Flames fans will buy into a guy ripping the Flames? or Habs? or Leafs? :-D

They could rant against me and pay to do so. I should quit giving it out for free. But that's a whole other topic!

Code is useless, and boring. At least Eklund is funny. Kind of..ok not really.

Ah, Eklund. What a bozo.

I have to admit, I do read his blog on a regular basis. That's mainly because it's:

A)Free.
B)Occasionally accurate.

The people that are really being had are the ones who pay for his precious 'season tickets'. What do they get for their money? Email updates about when Ekkie has posted a new blog. Access to "The Chart".....ooooo. Give me a break.

No doubt, with a challenge mounted in B. Stinson territory.

Bob McKenzie always has been and always will be the man. Everyone else is inferior to his insider skills.

I hate agreeing with people who live in Toronto? No, it just means you gave me nothing to rant on. :-D

Did you type cr*p too? Rubbish is becoming my favorite word apparently. I use it way too often here. :-D

Well if its any consolation, I live outside the city. Not exactly fond of the Leafs either, but everything else is blacked out, except sunday afternoon american games, so I follow them regardless. :dunno:

What can I say? I'm outnumbered on the lexicon tip here, so 'rubbish' it is :dunno: It's a UK thing and that's where our filtering eminates from actually

Anyhow, don't forget you can put your money where your mouth is as far as the deadline by picking your fantasy team from the lists:

Ahhh yeah, back on topic AND a plug for another site feature... :nerd:

I've got to say, I'm really impressed with the moves Philly made. I like where they're going. I was just reading something online about Biron being psyched to go there. He said he and Briere were talking about signing there as UFAs. He wants to bring Briere in with him.

If you think about it, they've got lots of young offensive talent that just has to put it all together, with Biron they've got goaltending, and their defense just got a whole lot younger recently. If they make a couple decent UFA signings, they could be a tough team next season. Plus, they've got a lottery pick (and another 1st rounder, right?).

That's a good link, Systemfel. Thanks.

Interesting stuff there. The Ducks offered a pick in each of the first three rounds for Norström. And everybody and his brother wanted Ryan.

Excellent link. But I am shocked at the lack of 4 letter words Burkie (or someone in Anaheim anyway) typed.

Sportsnet is a ridiculous dog-and-pony show. The new "Connected" sportscast is, unsurprisingly, the exact same as the old one but with futuristic looking backgrounds in the studio (including a gigantic, garish version of the Sportsnet logo) and segments like "Inbox" in which a somewhat attractive woman reads the (cough) philosophic and insightful comments received in response to Sportsnet bloggers.

The worst part of deadline day on channel 27 wasn't Eklund. It CERTAINLY wasn't the Deal or No Deal models....it was this ridiculous mural ( http://www.sportsnet.ca/photogallery/index.jsp ) depicting the Hanson brothers and the Sportsnet talking heads as a 'celebration' of their 'Deadline Day Bash,' to which we were all invited. Someone actually bought the thing, can you believe it? A mural about the trade deadline and a sports network? That would go perfect in the media room!
