TBL running at half-power

Post by archibalduk »

Sadly, due to a hole in part of our site, we have been hacked once again. I'm still in the process of restoring the site back to full strength and so you will see that not everything is working on the site at the moment. I'll keep everyone updated as and when things are restored.

Good luck, Archi! I'm sure we all really appreciate all the work you're putting into this. Once again, it's a shame that these hackers feel the need to hassle a friendly game community.

It's unbelieveable to me that there are people out there who are amused by this. What are the hackers doing? Sitting at home laughing becuase some people can't access a forum about a sports simulation? I guess I just don't see what the point of hacking US is...

Anyway, great work getting around the problems Archi, and B72 is right on - we all appreciate the hard work you put into keeping us up and running.

Cheers mate.

I think it is a bot that crawls the internet, looking for a weakness. Once it finds a weakness it installs itself and takes up all of our bandwidth to slow down the site and crash the server

Didn't I say something about the consistency of this happening in the last hacked thread?

Sucks... :(

Good luck fixing it Archi!

Could be a bot, but still, some idiots must have fun creating bots and sending them out. Right?

Archi, would it be helpful for us to post error messages we get to help you track them down? For example, I wasn't able to send a PM because the system couldn't find the email template.

Just a thought - if it would help... :dunno:

You sure do. No question there. I've tried to wrap my head around database coding and I can't get much past what I learned in school, which was basically useless. So I'm impressed that you can find one specific error in lord knows how many lines of code. :swamped:

Cheers and congrats on getting us back online AGAIN!

Thanks for pointing that out  I'd completely forgotten to explain why the Knowledge Base is no longer accessible. Basically, the KB is potentially insecure (we've had a bandwidth "leak" caused by an exploit of the KB system). Thus I've disabled the KB and am currently working on a replacement system.
