Salo signs 4 year extension

Post by batdad »

Salo 4 years, 14 million with Nucks

WOW! Cancuks top 3 d-men now all have 3.5 million Cap hit. Sorry to all you folks looking for a solid #2,3, or 4 d-man, if he stays healthy. No longer on the market is the Salo. Interesting deal as now Mitchell, Ohlund and Salo are all on the books for at least 2 more seasons after this one.

Apparently it is thought Salo would have brought 4 on the market...but who really knows.

Hope he does. Although having him on someone out west (other than Van) to cough up the puck and make a zillion defensive errors would be nice.

God it must be that time of year again. I am pulling for the Canucks. Arghhh....hopefully the bandwagon is not full. :-D

Steal! That's a good steal by Nonis. The Nucks have a great defensive core for years to come with Salo signed.

Not to mention the twins at 3.5 up front for two more years. Nonis wants Luongo 6.75, 3 or 4 d-men, and the Twins at 3.5...then everyone else at 1.5 or less.

Bye bye Markus after next season, or maybe before. Loved ya man, but you make too much. Never thought saying goodbye to him would not make me upset, but I am not sure it does anymore.

souray might do some mistakes in defensive zone.. but he brings lot of leadership and a physical presence.
He is the best pointman on a powerplay in the league right now.

Jack, don't bother to argument with that fella, he's a partial, narrowminded being having an integrist tendency to always bashing the habs :-x

So shut it up and praise Sami Salo and Willie Mitchell, the Bobby Orr and Larry Robinson of our age.... :-D
Yup I'm very Ironic

Let's stay real here.

1. Souray as the best pointman in the league is an opinion you are entitled to have, but really? Think about it..What about Gonchar, Sakic, Lidstrom, Blake (admittedly not right now), Phaneuf, Dan Boyle and many others?

2. Holydogg: I am certain I called Salo a 2,3 or 4 dman..not a superstar. Nothing untoward there. I just said it was a great signing for Vancouver, and so did Systemefel who is not a Canucks fan.

3. Larry and Bobby in the same sentence? Larry was a great defenseman and an even better policeman....but comparing him to ORR..the best defenseman and possibly the best player of all time? Holy mackinaw!

4.I don't bash the Habs...I call a spade a spade. If they make the playoffs it will be by the skin of their teeth, and you know that too. As I have said several times the Habs have a team that is not as good as it could be if they had a coach who understood his players. They have dressing room, leadership, and unhappy player issues. Just like the Canucks last season...I have said it about Vancouver too. Go back a long way in this forum and read what I said about Vancouver's undeniable turnaround, their last season, and the Habs.

And then double check it. Another Habs fan other than you two has agreed with me about many of my comments regarding a clearly underperforming team. Just as the Flames had been underperforming for their skill, and several other teams. The Canucks---clearly not underperfoming. So yes, this season they get praise. Well deserved praise I might add.

Holydogg This is about the 3rd time I have read, your so clearly ironic comments about me personally. I get the point, and I think we all do..you do not like me. No biggie. However, I would expect the respect I give you...I don't insult you, and have ignored these comments in 2 other threads previously.
I do make some points about the Habs that you disagree with. Fine... I have an opinion you disagree with, and many others do too. T-cleese, I know does when it comes to Calgary. He and I debate without issues, I would expect the same from others. I don't bash people personally, and would expect the same consideration. I may disagree with you, but I do not call you names.

Wow, I didn't think they'd be able to get him signed to a deal; I think this probably does put the writing on the wall for a Naslund departure... great deal for Vancouver I think.

Admin Note: holydogg you're going to have to switch from "ironic"/attacking to "If you can't say something nice don't say anything at all" in regard to batdad's posts. How much clearer do we need to make it that you can discuss what some is saying and say you disagree with their ideas without personally attacking them and calling them names?

You're verrry close to a warning here and I particularly don't like your responding to another poster to bash on the person they are having a discussion with. You're not adding anything to the thread. NO personal attacks. Period. Do it again you'll be carrying an official warning about it.

For sure it's a good signing. And for the Robinson and Orr thingy. It was in comparison with Salo and Mitchell. Tell me if i'm wrong, but Salo is more balanced than Willie Mitchell and so a better D-men. Nothing against Mitch, he's a solid big d-man.

If I say Guy Lapointe and Larry Robinson, it is better? :-D

No more grunting, and sorry for all this.
