Your top 10 deception players

there is my personal top 10 of players who were suposed to be franchise player but never achieved:

1- Alexandre Daigle
2- Doug Wickenheiser
3-Brian Lawton
4- Brian Fogarthy
5- Pat Falloon
6- Eric Lindros
7- Viktor Kozlov
8- Brian Berard
9- Radek Bonk
10- Jose Theodore

I did that list without doing any research so feel free to post your own list or add some players that I might have forget

It's hardly Berards fault that he can only see out of one eye.

Yup, I think Berard turned quite well despite his eyes injury.
Daigle is a shame, how many millions did he get before people realized he's an heartless unidimensional player?

You can add Patrik Stefan and Cameron Mann (some years ago he was supposed to be Bruins savior...),

Lindros was a franchise player before his injuries. Theodore was pretty good back in the day too.

Nothing to be sorry about The Hutch. When that guy was drafted...I said "huh?"...and could not believe what Pat Quinn was saying about him. So desparate the Canucks were to get a 6'5" centre.

To defend the Nucks a bit though: 13 guys from the 92 draft 1st round had meaningful careers, and 11 from the 2nd. So that whole draft was a bit off..especially with the Nucks getting Peca midway to bottom of 2nd round. Sheesh.

And the other name from that draft: Brandon Convery. From what I heard, he was the next coming of Jesus at the time.,,Leafs hahahahahah.

Other Canucks I did the same with: Jason Herter, Shawn Antoski...and that guy we got Naslund for...at least someone else thought he would be good! Thanks Mr. Patrick.

Also, I never really thought anyone on the list you gave, save Brett Lindros, was going to be a star. But again, injury ruined him.Not sure anyone else did either?? Maybe Scissons..but it was the Islanders. I guess I remember a build up on Bonsignore.

Question: Worst Flame draft pick ever? I have one in mind, but he did play really well for a time. Too bad he had such a horrid past.

Another name: Sheldon Kennedy...Some asshat messed up his mind though..so sad, he could have been a force. Gary Leeman, Dan Daoust, Miroslav Fricer, Petr Ihnacek, Bill Derlago (HUGE BUST for Toronto, glad the Nucks got rid of him), Drake Berehowsky, and about 1000 other Loafs. Only because of the Torontocentric media...but man do Leaf rookies get built up. Is Alex Steen going to be another one? Stajan?

If either of those two will be a bust, it'll be Stajan. At least Steen can play D - sometimes.

Yup. Too bad that 'before his injuries' really means his time with the Oshawa Generals. When he played like a franchise player for the Flyers, his usual season was about 60 games long (he managed to top 70 games only twice, 73 being his all-time high before he left Philly).

Having one franchise year doesn't make a guy a franchise player either. Theodore is a joke now.

Wasn't Rob Niedermayer supposed to be 100 times better than Scott was?

I don't think Cameron Mann was ever thought to be a future franchise player by the Bruins. They thought he'd be a good prospect, nothing more. He didn't even turn out to be that. We had a lot of prospects that the team thought highly of that never made it anywhere. Randy Robitaille, Lee Goren, Johnathan Aitken, Daniel Goneau, Marcel Cousineau, Cam Stewart (Bruins always thought it would be magic if they could find another Cam!), Ivan Huml and some others. I won't even get into that whole deal where they drafted that Russian goalie in the first round and he was terrible!

The Bruins also have a knack for drafting guys and never signing them but they turn out to be decent NHLers after that... like Ben Clymer, Kevyn Adams, and Antti Laaksonen.
