You can have a zillion stats, designed to show how some players are better than others, and that some are worse. However, stats mean nothing. Dustin Brown could come off as the worst LA King. However....unless you can show that the crushing hits this guy makes, his work ethic, and his physical play are less than what he shows....stats mean nothing. He is more of a 50 pt man to LA than anyone because of what else he does. Most stats are somewhat meaningless on the value of a player to his team.
Track giveaways, takeaways, try and track where a player is supposed to be at a certain time, pokes of the puck on passes with the stick, breakout passes, players deked, shots, shooting percentage...and who a player is on the ice against every single shift. This will help. However....still who knows...some players have another gear..Claude Lemieux, Kris Draper, etc...that is unmeasurable.
