All Salary Cap and Player budget questions

Post by KevT90 »

Patch 3.0.2 says that Salary cap is now configurable via the config file transfer_rules_config.cfg, in the database folder. Set to values to 0 or remove the entry to remove the cap for competition entirely.

I located the file and open it with wordpad and change for example the 44000000 to 45000000 and saved this. I opened EHM and loaded my game but the change didnt take effect.

there's 2 hypothesis possible. So first, maybe im doing something wrong when i edit the salary cap or 2) maybe it doesnt work with a existing game and works only when you start a new game. If the 2nd hypothesis is true, i would find that bad cause the opportunity to chage the SC becomes interresting when you can apply it later in a career just like in real life, to increase the SC gradually as the player salary grow ....

Well theres a solution or an editor to be able to config the SC on a already started game, let me know !!!

batdad: edited title to encompass more sal cap questions than just changing it

Thks a lot !!!

All config changes take place only at the beginning of a season, when a new game is processed...

Yeah, the second one is right.

As Minty said, config files are read when a new game is created.

Ok thats what i was thinking ....

And i already saw hereinbefore that there's a salary cap editor too. Working like a little program that you have to run before opening the game.

did someone try it ??? and if its the case, is it also impossible to modify the SC and have the changes to take effect in a game already started before SC config ???

Thks agains guys !!!

Salary cap editing question

Post by Renegade11 »

Is there a program that can edit the cap in an already started game? If not, is there plans to do one?

Post by intcountzero »

Is it possible to raise the salary cap in v2007? The NHL recently annouced the cap was to go from 44 to 47 mil. Can we change that in the game?

Go into the database, there's a file there where you can change it.

Dash78 says:
Hello all,

After completing my first season, I was wondering if I should raise the salary cap manually in my game to match the actual cap. I have a few questions about it:

Do you people raise the cap year by year?
When does the new salary cap change take place?
Do players get overpaid because of the new salary room available?
Answer: No I don't .. no reason too really as there is no inflation built into the game. Guys still want the same as they always would.

IRL Salary Cap changes Jul 1. In the game...unless you change it...never

No players do not get overpaid..no inflation

All that being said, when the 2007-08 updated rosters come out in the future, the cap will be changed via editor to the real life 50.2, because the players have new contracts in real life, new teams, and they are spending more. This inflation is not in the EHM GAME as it stands though.

I was wondering, i changed the salary cap and it worked greatly in the default database but not in the one with the tbldb database update. How can i change it there too? I closed and restarted my computer, i closed the game and restarted it, i also reaplied the tbldb patch but none of this worked. ](*,)

Thats because theres a different config file that needs to be changed for the tbldb. its called the same as the other one but is found in the THL:DB folder.

is there a time frame to update the salary cap in the ehm saved game editor for 2007??

cause a bunch of key players get thrown on waivers as soon as i start the game and when i try to raise the cap with the editor it's blacked out and i can't click it. I've never had that problem before.

Does the game become buggy if you raise the salary cap?
As in the AI not recognising the new cap space and such.

Changing salary cap values

Post by bossman »

I have been trying to change the values for the salary cap to make it a bit more difficult (i.e. dropping the cap to $50 mil). However, every time I try doing it, it tells me I can't save the file. Is there any special way of doing this or is my computer just being difficult with me (again)?

Thanks for moving my post to the appropriate part.

The problem is it won't even let me save the file when I change anything in Notepad or WordPad. Now if I deleted the file, would it screw the game up or would there be no salary cap? I would rather be able to drop the cap a bit if I can but if worse comes to worse...

You cannot just delete the file, you would be in big trouble. Maybe the file is just write-protected? Check the file properties, could be the "read-only".

I checked, it is not read-only.

When I try to save it it says,

"Cannot create the \transfer_rules_config.cfg file. Make sure the path and file name are correct."

Then it wants me to save it under another name.

I am lost :(

It could be a permissions issue on the folder?

Maybe you could just make a copy of the original file and place it somewhere in another folder. Then you make all the changes you want into this copy, delete the original file and place the copy into the database folder. :-k

Good idea Selne. I will try it. Makes me wonder why I didn't think of that in the first place.
