I think I'm losing my scouts.

I don't know if this is a bug, or I just missed something, I've never had this problem before.

I recently started playing again after a long layoff, and I currently have 2 different games going. The same thing has happened in both games.

Every time I start, I completely overhaul my staff, and sign about half a dozen scouts. I assign them in the preseason, and usually leave them until near the end of the season, when I get them to look more closely at the entry draft.

In both these games, all but one of my scouts have disappeared. When I go back and check on them, the only guy I have left is Richard Rose. Everyone else is just gone. I didn't see any notices about them retiring or anything. I can't remember the names of any of the missing ones, so I can't search for them to figure out what happened.

My coaches/trainers/assistant GM are not affected, just the scouts.

The database is edited, but not by much. Its unfaking 1.0, I changed a couple players attributes, completed a couple trades/signings that hadn't been implemented, and increased the salary cap.

Anyone experienced this before? Or have any idea how I could figure out what happened? There is no decent staff available in the second season, so my scouts are godawful.

If you are playing as anything but the NHL, your scouts can get offers from NHL teams and choose to leave their current team. You can see what happened by going to "Transactions" and then to "Staff Out." It will be a list of all of the staff that left your team.

Now I'm really confused...

They're just...gone.

Billy Dea, Nick Polano and Charlie Hodge are all listed under Staff In in 2006/07.

They're names are not clickable like the others, so I can't bring up their pages.
They are listed nowhere under Staff Out, in any year.
I scouted all staff, and looked for them alphabetically, as well as quick searching for them, and they're aren't there.
I opened up the game in the saved game editor, and they don't exist there either.

Is there an assassin easter egg in the game or something?

If you can't click on them they may be retired. Isn't Hodge pretty old when the season starts?

Yeah, he retires after the first season every year in my game. But he (and the others) were gone before the season was over, I don't remember any retirement messages, and wouldn't it show in the Staff Out scene?

Sucker Punch: Strange... I've never had this problem and never heard someone having this problme before. I guess it's something related to the edited DB you use, but can't say it for sure.

I don't think it has to deal with retirement. Players and staff retire during the off-season. Sometimes just a few weeks before the start of a new season. But i NEVER seen them retire DURING the season... :-k And i don't think they can do so in the 'basic' game. That's why i think the problem has to deal with the edited DB you're using.
