I was on TSN about 15 or 20 minutes ago but now I can't access it. I'm not getting Spector's now either. HFboards is in it's stripped down mode and still running slow. It's expected though. The first few hours of the free agent frenzy always kills these sites. I'm still getting my video feed from the NHL of TSN's free agency broadcast.
Oh, BTW, Joe Thornton just re-signed with San Jose for 3 years.
Thomas made a good season Oh, sure, not an outstanding one! He's not Luongo or Brodeur. But he did a decent job. And Toivonen is young. So there's no reason to loose Kalus for...what?...Fernandez? If it had been a blockbuster trade, to bring Vokoun, why not, but for Manny, pointless. At least, that's the way i see things...

I love Dave Hodge...some crack about it being such a waste of time, and having all the time in the world to discuss nothing...hilarious dude
Yeah this is pretty disappointing that TSN isn't showing coverage (or lack there of) of free agency between 2pm and 6pm (I think?). Now I have to sit and keep refreshing Spectors and TSN over and over again.
That is nuts. But I guess if the cap is going to go up every year then it's a way of keeping a player's wages at a stable rate, rather than having to negotiate higher wages every two or three years with a higher cap meaning that the players can demand higher wages.
Really, though, is this sort of thing good for hockey? I guess that's a question best answered in a separate thread.
Well, I'm glad I slept in today after moving apartments for the last two days. I was worried I was going to miss the 'frenzy' - but it looks like more of a trickle.
RE: Briere - this deal will come back to bite the Fly-boys. BRIERE IS 5'9". Also, he'll be 38 in the last year of this deal, which features a McCabe-esque 'NO MOVEMENT CLAUSE'. So at 38, he can't be traded or waived. I don't have so much of an issue with the dollars - we all knew he would get 6+ per, but the term is ridiculous.

As a Detroit fan, I like this move. Rafalski is probably just as good offensively as Schneider, but better defensively, and younger. I'll still miss Schneider's big blasts from the point though.
WOW! The Flyers are sure laying some serious money out there! I don't know if I'd be giving that long of a contract either. I did expect Briere to sign there though. He and Biron are tight.
I think the Rafalski signing is a good one for Detroit but I don't know that I'd want it for that length. He'll be in his late 30's by the end of the deal. Does his deal start high and end with lower numbers? Who am I kidding, Detroit has the fountain of youth. They've got this ability to get good years out of older guys.
By the way... the Bruins signed themselves a scrapper. Word is they've inked Shawn Thornton to a multi-year deal.

Yeah: Briere, Timmonen and Hartnell have all been signed for big money and long contracts. Seems they're pulling out all the stops to ensure they don't have a season like last season again.
poti to capitals, $3.5million for 4 years,
Flyers are desperate to not finish bottom again! sure, but there spending alot of money on 3 players, specially Briere, 10 million for one year of hocke, holy rubbish!

According to Spector-
TSN'S BOB McKENZIE REPORTS THE EDMONTON OILERS HAVED TRADED JOFFREY LUPUL AND JASON SMITH TO THE PHILADELPHIA FLYERS IN EXCHANGE FOR JONI PITKANEN AND GEOFF SANDERSON.
