HUGE over-payment on Hamrlik! That's just insane money for him. So who are they going to be looking to unload Hamrlik on next season? Seriously, this is just silly.
The Kings are stocking up. They've just signed something like 4 guys (Nagy, Handzus, Preissing, and Calder). Not a bad day or two for them. Owen Nolan signed with Calgary. Nashville loses Hartnell, Timonen, and Kariya, replacing them with Ortmeyer, Bonk, and de Vries. Minty's Hawks added Lang today.
And still all the Bruins have done is sign Shawn Thornton. I hear rumors that they're looking at Rachunek though. Not too sure how I feel about that one.
Oh! And now I'm reading rumor that the Rangers are signing Souray. Do they have the cap space left to sign a guy like that?

Hamrlik really that much. Gainey....is .... on.....crack.
Smoke getting a no trade...hahahahahahah. Montreal has mucked up big time.
LA--Still.....need.....a......goalie. They willl still be bottom dwellers til they get one. And they cannot spend much more or they will be up against the cap, and someone will take a run at Cammaleri with an offer sheet, that LA will not be able to match without making moves or going over the cap. The KIngs may have trouble.
Yes Rangers have cap room. Especially if Souray is not getting as many offers as some thought. SJ resigned Rivet, LA got Preissing, Ana Schneider. So the area Souray supposedly wants to be is filling up $ wise. He may not be able to get nearly as much as he thinks he was going to get. Slapshot does not equal $6mill apparently...Who knew? Oh yeah....I know who knew that. But Sheldon sure did not.
Hawks should be okay with Lang...but would have been better off had they kept Handzus. I was hoping Van would make a run at Handzus, but I guess he wants to much for Van's cap space.
Rumour from hell dujour---Seen this in \3 places, but likely started with Eklund...so take it for the nothing it is worth.
Elias to Vancouver for Morrison, Schneider (goalie guy), and a pick. Cap wise by moving Mo this works for Van. But to me, no way does Lou want Mo back after the last time when he held out.

Bertuzzi got 4 mil too, the idiocy continues. Handzus and Nagy both got over-paid in LA...
The Flames signed Owen Nolan...which is better than Jeff Friesen. But everyone will probably hate him when he goes 15 games without a goal...
Look out for the Blues. Kariya had the foresight to sign on with the up-and-coming Preds (until everything fell apart) who have been amongst the class of the league the last few seasons. The Blues have a great record under Andy Murray and lots of young talent. Kariya may not be a big difference maker but the team will be much better this season.
I haven't said anything about Keenan because I really have no opinion, no gut feeling. I want to see results.
Eric Perrin - 82 GP, 13 G, 23 A, 30 PIM = $750,000 for 2 years
Scott Gomez - 72 GP, 13 G, 47 A, 42 PIM = $7.36 million for 7 years
Apparently 24 assists are worth 6.75 million dollars.

I'm not really enthusiastic with the signing of Nolan... I was hoping for someone a bit better...don't know who however.
Regehr re-signed for 5 years with the Flames, at 4M$ a year, as per TSN

Iggy re-signed?
I can't find any confirmed info about that. Nothing on TSN nor on the Flames official site, where it's just mentionned that he may sign for less than market value to help keeping Kipper, whose contract will be negociated later on, when he'll be back from Finland. (more details on the Flames' site)
For Owen Nolan in Calgary, it's a 1 year deal at 2M$, including bonuses, according to TSN
As for Regehr overpaid 1/2M$ per season...you may be right on this one, batdad, but it allows to keep him for 5 more seasons. Who knows where the cap will be in 5 years? Going crazy like it did over the past two seasons, being overpaid half a million actually would mean being underpaid one or two millions during the run of the contract, so it sounds like a good deal to me. At least on the long-term.

No..just been reporting Iggy is signing an extension at 7 mill per, for 4 years in several places. Not 100% signed.
I know on Regehr...I just don't think he is all that, like some people do. He is slow, with almost no lateral mobility, he is not good moving the puck out of his own end, and he makes almost as many mistakes as Hamrlik. But $3.5 is the going rate for 3rd thru 5th dmen. 4 is not that bad. I just do not think as much of Robyn as many do.
Same goes for a few other guys. Like Krapicek. 1.1 mill/year for a guy like him is a gross overpay...

Canucks sign the goalie of their distant future. Cory Schneider finally decides to leave Boston College. He will be the Manitoba Moose #1 goalie.
Note; Goalie of the future is what Vancouver people have referred to every goalie who has come to this city since Kirk Mclean, until the arrival of Luongo.
Whitmore, Gamble, Weekes, Cloutier, Oulett, Martin Brochu, that latvian guy Irbe, that other Latvian guy...tall one ...Skudra...you get the point. Cept Schneider should be better than all of them.
Canucks also for some unknown reason sign Brad Isbister and Byron Ritchie
I actually like Ritchie so that is fine by me. Isbister? Why? Just what we need another huge (size wise) underachiever.
