What an insane decision, stay on for half a year, 495 goals, c'mon JR, but 1170 career points, can't argue with that. and who knows how many he could've scored without his knee problems.
I really like JR, he will always be remembered by me as one of the players i liked to watch growing up in his first stint with Phoenix
Bah...PR (Public Relations as he is known in Chicago) not JR. Guy is such a jerk off the ice. Nasty to everyone. Goes to a restaurant and eats while his team is playing (in Vancouver last season) because he is widdled at Gretzky for scratching him.
Runs around trashing hotel rooms. Talks out of his buttocks. Selfish on and off the ice.
He was...a good hockey player at one point. But then he got hit hard. And his head still hurts, and so does his knee, and his brain is cramping.
Thank god I live in Canada, and will not have to hear him yap on Versus. Now, Brett Hull I like..but this guy...jerk on and off the ice.
Plus he is everything I try to teach my kid not to be. Selfish, loud, rude, and a poor sport/loser. He talks way too much about himself and his greatness.
Oh and it would take him 2 years to get the 5 goals....cause he is slow, old and dumb.

i never realised he was such an idiot of the ice, i hate egotistical, arrogant and miserable players (cough Bertuzzi cough), if i got to play hockey for 2 million dollars a season i would love every minute of it, players don't seem like there havin fun,
i never really read anything about his actions off the ice, i only liked him when he was on it, reading your stuff kinda makes me change my mind about him, thanks
Was he one of the guys on the US Olympic team that caused so many problems the first year the NHL participated in the Olympics? I remember there were a couple guys that really embarrassed the country with their conduct. It wouldn't surprise me to hear JR was one of them. He was hell of a player back in his Blackhawk days though.

Anyhow, yes off-ice the guy's a jagoff, but he always give his heart and soul on the ice playing through truly gruesome injuries most would have retired from... you always knew what you'd get from JR (before his injuries caught up to him) but hey people think Brett Hull was a jackass off the ice too, and actually the majority of the old timers were hell raisers as well...
I'd still take a team of JRs on my team any day, I just wouldn't them out in public or near a live microphone
I am not a big Roenick fan myself, but the guy has the stats to prove that he was good at one point and time in his career. I agree that after he stopped playing hockey, he decided to run his mouth much more.
Which in my opinion didn't help him on the ice at all. There are many players who play years with many injuries and they do actually well for themselves. But once they feel that they don't have it anymore, but are still playing at the time, they tend to run their mouth.
Who does this remind me of? Maybe Owens with the Cowboys. He doesn't have it anymore and he hasn't for the past 4 years or so. Which is why he runs his mouth so much on and off the field.
I know that is a football player, but that is just my point.
I think its a little unfair to compare Roenick to the idiot that is Owens. I dont condone the things Roenick has done on or off the ice but when he was with the Blackhawks and Flyers, he gave some game winning performances. Owens is just darn right selfish and if the attentions not on him, he throws his toys out of his pram! I hate the guy but I cant take it away from him that he is a talented ball player.
I've always liked JR but then again I haven't seen him half of much as you guys as our NHL coverage sucks in the UK.

Terrell Owens is the biggest w****r ever , i absolutely despise the guy, to call that man a sports personality is a joke,
although i don't know much about Roenicks off ice actions, i honestly do not believe that ANYONE can be as annoying as TO, so i believe you can't compare the 2, unless you can prove me wrong and i'll stand down.
You could never find anyone more annoying than TO!! They are taking a big risk with that guy and I really hope it doesn't back fire in their faces.
Some athletes today just do not understand how fortunate they are! They are playing their favourite sport and getting paid a huge sum of money for doing it. Anyway getting back to JR I have to say even I cringed when I saw him "disco dancing" on ice!! lol The guys definately got guts for pulling that kind of stunt in front of a packed arena let alone his team mates!!
