So the New NHL

Post by davey_nyrangerboy02 »

personally i think its great stuff so far, the penalties at times can be tiresome but the players will learn eventually, and so far the red line removal has been a terrific success in combination with the removal of clutch play which makes the trap a bad move.

The games ive seen so far have been great, very fast, end to end rushes, not necessarily many more goals but the key is exciting scoring chances and the new NHL so far has been a big improvement from the games of 03-04.

I saw on Saturday the Maple Leafs home opener to the Habs, a brilliant game, finished 5-4 the Habs, with the Game winner scored by Ribeiro, it was back and forth, and end to end.

it is a pity that the Rangers are 5min from a defeat to Washington, embarassing

I've probably seen six or seven games at this point and games between teams with talent are better I believe and things are seemingly settling down a bit recently.

The problem is teams/players that are simply not very good; their games are absolutely brutal penalty fests. They also look like Playstation hockey; team comes down on the rush makes a few passes and scores. It's even worse if they are playing their third game in three nights. The whole 'play keeping in mind the new calls' thing goes right out the window and instinct kicks in again.

So... I have to say for me the jury is still out. I do think it's the right direction to be going. I really like seeing like yesterday Selanne getting called away from the play (and I mean like 30 feet away!) for putting his stick around a guy's waist. I liked it even better that his team was already a man down and they still called it.

I'm not sure though how many more 7-6 games played under a near constant 5 on 3 I can endure.
