New 2d Player Indicators

Post by Minstrel »

I've released the second version of my "player down" enhanced player indicators:

You can download the file here, all 3k of it, here now :-p Instructions for install enclosed, but these are simply replacements for the two graphics found in a skin's 'ingame/player' folder.

http://www.ehmtheblueline.com/forums/dl ... ile_id=397

These are designed to address problems with telling when a player is 'down' on the ice (blocking a shot, knocked down by another player, etc.). The default system can be difficult to see especially on the dark side.

So, these are more triangular and also designed for the 'dark' indicators to be lighter.

When a player goes down to the ice the triangle flips and becomes much darker. The lighter indicators will also show a v in the icon to help show a player is down on the ice.

See the screenshot showing two goalies down to block shots for examples.

It's a small change but a good one I think, it makes it much easier to see when players are called for tripping penalties etc and it's cool to see defense going down to block shots or how long it takes someone to get up from taking a huge hit.

BTW - If you had my last triangular indicators, the changes are that these are larger and they are tweaked to darken as well as 'flip'.

Agreed... and you'll notice there are two pucks in play... it's my homage to NHL Hitz :-D

But back on topic I'd love to hear what people think of these in their game, I've been using them for a while now while testing them and I think they finally make the 'player down' option 'work'. :nerd:
