The Eagle to Leksand, Sweden? OMG that's major! Sure, nothing have been comfirmed yet but if it's a done deal it's easily the biggest one in Swedish hockey history!

Heard this one today myself and couldn't believe it. Why would Belfour want to go to Sweden? Is beer cheap over there or something? He's a good goalie though in my opinion, if only he could come to the UK instead...

I've heard they've got good vodka in Sweden. That's got to have some appeal to Belfour.

That would seem to be a motive for someone who gets photos like this taken of himself....

Well, Leksand defines what small towns is all about. I really don't think Eddie will have much privacy there. But sure, they probobly have a pretty good supply of Absolut and hotdogs (remember when he ate hotdogs while being benched last season?)...

Linden resigns in Vancouver today. $600K plus bonus chances. Canucks immediately sell 1000 season tickets to people still living in 1994. "Might as well Jump... Jump" "Pana-ma-ah-hah-huh-huh-huh." :-D

Actually, having Trevor around is really not a bad thing. He was their best forward in the playoffs last year. 7 points, leading the team, and 5 on game winning goals.

Bite me Ranger boy! darn Lafayette...1/2 an inch to the left and we go to OT. No way your old men would have been able to hold on long enough to get one more past McLean! { But yeah..Trev was one of the warhorses then that is for sure}

And we would have heard Jim Robson say "Bure! BURE! BURE! BURE SCORES< THE VANCOUVER CANUCKS HAVE WON THE STANLEY CUP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

(Ok must stop sounding like I am
a. Drinking
b. Really listening to 1984...Cause the Linden thing was 1994. More like Nirvanna then...argh I am old)

I was actually trying to credit Linden with something :) He's a great player and had a solid playoff this year. He can probobly still play at a level that benifits the Canucks.

'94? Come on... Linden almost turned the game around by himself when Tikkanen and Messier sat in the box, but in the end the Rangers where the strongest team. They really should had won it in five... That Rangers team was built to win and to win only. Just look at what happened after '94...

I like Linden, and he was great in '94, but not as great as Leetch, Richter and Messier ;)

Yeah cause Trevor was like 16, and Mess, Leetch, Richter were what 102?

I know you were giving Trevor credit. I have been drinking, so I may sound ornery. Wait I always sound ornery. Trevor almost won that game singlehandedly.

The Rangers should have lost in 7. The stupid NHL giving the old men the extra day of rest between 6 and 7, that appeared nowhere else in the playoffs. Had they had to go with only one nights rest...trouble against the young, not so hurting guys from Vancouver.

But yeah, I do actually agree..the Rangers had one hell of a team, and are fully deserving. I am just bringing up the ol' Canuck fan gripes...cause we hate the Rangers and that former Captain of yours for some funny reason.

Kirk McLean was goaling like they use to do in the 70s.. thank god.. they have Luongo now.. their first very good goalie in history.. (richard brodeur was good but not great)

Isn't Brodeur the one goalie that Gretzky scored most goals against in his career? I think JD talks about that in the Ultimate Gretzky DVD...

I just have one question for you Canuck fans here: Isn't it outrageous that they didn't give the 'C' back to Linden when he came home after the seasons with the Isles and Caps. I mean, Markus Näslund? Is he really Captain-material? And even if so was the case, shouldn't it be standard that when a former captain returns that he be given back the 'C'?

I guess the Rangers played around too long. Everyone was saying it was a done deal for him to sign with them not that long ago.

Yeah, I read that his agent was pretty PO'd at Sather. Apparently, they had the deal all worked out, Peca had passed his physical - the works. Then the agent can't reach Sather for a few days and has no idea if they are still interested.

:dunno: I wonder what else Glen has been busy with??

Rags played too long with Mike. So he went to CBJ instead who were up front.

Anyway...for Linden and the "C"> When Trevor came back he did not want it. It was discussed between Markus, Trevor and Burke. But Trev said..nope it is Markus's team, and I am not that guy who did it to me."
Guess who he meant?

Nah, as I leaf fan I am kind of glad about this. The last thing we need is a veteran, and although he is a good player he was injured anyway.

Too bad for Jackets fans

Columbus needs a defensive center like they need more scoring wingers. ](*,) They need a pair of playmaking centers who can get the puck to Nash, Vyborny, Zherdev & Modin. Fedorov isn't it. Novotny, Malhotra aren't it. This is only a good deal if they got him for a song.

The have two of those you are speaking of Mr. Hypnotist. Just they are young and BJ's are making the right call now, by not rushing them into the roles they will get one day.

THeir names of course, Gilbert Brule (who will be darn good once he gets some time in the minors) and Mr. Dan Fritsche, who may be, may be not.

I'm not sold that either Fritsche or Brule will turn into legit #1 centers. If they were developed right, maybe. But I think putting them in the NHL lineup will stunt their overall potential. JMO.

I don't think they will be there this season. Both I believe are Syracuse bound with Hitch. He goes slow. So maybe one year behind. Cept Fritsche has not played much in CBJ..so he may be back earlier than Gilbert.

Hitch has said on Van radio...Brule is not likely on the team this season. Not sure how the Svitov thing changes that, but with Peca likely not much.
