Bonus points A & B:
And improvement points for seasons 2-7
End of season points:First Seasons Scoring:
The leader in the following categories after games 20 and 60 will get three points, second place two points, third place one point:
Most Goals, Most Assists, Most Points, Most PIM, Highest +/-, Highest Power Play Percentage and Highest Penalty Killing Percentage.
After Game 82 bonus points will be added based upon the team total stats. The top team will gain 10 points, the second team 8, the third 6, the fourth 4 and the fifth 2 for leaders in the following categories:
Teams with the most overall:
Wins, Total Points, Goals Scored, Power Play Percentage, Team PIM, Penalty Kill Percentage
And the teams with the least overall:
Losses, Goals Against,
Playoff Bonuses:
1 point for every two playoff wins, with 3 points additional bonus for winning the Stanley Cup; making it also the Holy Grail of TBL Challenges as it is worth eleven points (16 wins = 8 points + 3 bonus points). This number will be rounded up (see potential tiebraker rules below).
Over Budget Points Penalties Per Quarter:
0.1 to 1 million over: -2 points
1.1 - 2 million over: -5 points
2.1 - 3 mil over: -10 points
3.1+ over: -20 points (a -20 will also DQ you from the next of the two in-season bonus points)
And improvement points for seasons 2-7
Bonus Points Setup In-season and year end bonuses work the same way as for a first season challenge. The difference is that there will be extra year end bonuses for teams showing the most improvement over their last season stats in major categories. These will be scored in the same manner as the the in-season bonus points as teams in first place will get three points, second place two points, third place one point:
Teams with the most improvement over the previous season's:
Wins, Total Points, Goals Scored, Power Play Percentage, Team PIM
And the teams with the most improvement in recording the least:
Losses, Goals Against, Penalty Kill Percentage
So users in season 3 will get bonus points for improving on season 2 etc...
End of season 7 bonus points will be given out in a similar way, however the improvement will be measeured between the first season and season 7. The categories will be the same as above, however the points will be 10 for first, 8 for second, 6 for third, 4 for fourth and 2 points for 5th most improvement.

Honestly, i don't mind about the avatar
I'm having fun playing, learn some new tricks, test some stuff i wouldn't have tested outside of the challenge, discover new players and prospects, and try to do my best. Then if my best play is not good enough to win, i'm okay with that. If it means wearing a schoolatar, i'm okay with that too. It was the deal.
However, i can't say that i'm thrilled with it

wow, I didn't think it would be that wide of a margin. Looking at the numbers batdad had put up once I put in mine I thought it would be a nailbiter. Maybe I don't really know how the numbers work. As far as schoolatar doesn't really matter either way. Or since Batdad was top mod couldn't you just keep the schoolatars for him?

Yeah only if I win. Well done t-bug. I had a feeling improvement points would be painful for me. My team was too good at the start. Oh well, at least I still beat the other eggheads and especially the mods!!!!
But hell, those season points you got were awesome! Keep it up
Of course I do know you have been matching my lineup with oh say...heatley...and now Hossa. I am not telling you about my latest move!!

I forgot to mention, what put me over the top last year was Foppa. I have a feeling he's going to kill me this year since I couldn't afford him and keep my defense which are for the most part young and fairly decent. I don't predict I'll be doing as well, but I won't be that bad. I've got a young defense with more time together, 2 very young goaltenders who are starting to become very good, and for the most part a good group of forwards. BTW anyone seen Bruins? I wonder if they are in shock from being left out of the top 3.
Calv, care to explain how the improvement numbers are calculated? I'm not questioning your work, I am curious how you come up with a way of setting it up.

B72 is rarely around on Fridays and weekends. Me thinks he likes to party..or you know..has a real life. I hate that about him.
Systems? I have no stinking systems. No I have about 2 or 3 I switch on and off. And quite often in between periods I change between them, or at least change my matchups and/or line combos. Especially for those teams scouted as "flexible"

By systems I'm mostly referring to tactics but will also change around lines if I think I can get something better. For example for those of you who remember the slapshot tactic. I originally started with that one and then kept tweaking it till I could get a desired effect as far as scoring goes. I also have a mid zone trap that I use. Again I tweaked it over and over again till I got the desired effect. Finally I've got one that generally only comes into play if I'm down big, and thats my goons one. I figure if they can't beat them on the scoreboard then why not on the ice. I try not to lose that many games big, but if its already happening why not. This is why I have had either Low or Boogaard on Chicago every year and now have Big Snake for Norfolk. I don't know why Boogaard keeps getting waived. So far he has been waived in Season 1 and 3. I picked him up each time. (He refused to sign with me after season 1. You would think he wanted to play for me, I used him as a checker and pretty much let the reigns loose unless he was taking a bunch of penalties. Then I'd sit him.
)

No, I haven't been around much lately because work has been insane. If anything, the most time I've had to come by TBL has been for a bit on the weekend. Other than that, I pop in for 5 minutes and see if there is anything really important. I'm hoping to spend some time on TBL tonight or this weekend. I want to do an update to my blog with my off-season happenings (draft, trades, and camp). Then I can finally move onto playing my 4th season... when I actually have the time to play.
Congrats to Thunderbug and Lidas!

No congrats to batdad though. He's just too darn good at EHM!

Honestly....in To challenge it was the center ice position. in this one I had Handzus and he had a tough go so traded him at deadline. Had I done it early in the season...would have had better numbers. Roy as my top assist getter was the problem. No chemistry for any wingers with him. Yet he always got a point on OT goals...or game winners. THe only time he did anything. He reallly slowed down Heater,as Danny potted a bunch of goaLS IN the last 20 with Horc.
Also, notoriously for me games 41-60 suck and that is a bonus time I believe.
other than that...who knows?? but I have never approached the pts u got with Foppa

Foppa is a god, especially when you have people around him. That would be my recommendation to anyone in future challenges. Get Foppa in the first offseason, or through trades but I think he was untouchable. Get him on a good line, almost any team has atleast 2 players to stick him with (or the ability to trade for them.). Run an extremely offensive system and it won't matter how many goals the other team scores. I mean if you look I came close to the number of goals the Oilers had in their heyday. The bulk of this came from one line. It did help to have a decent second line of Bourque, Smolinski, and Ruutu/Vrbata, but lets be real here. The bulk of my points came from the first line.
