developing a player that is a forward and defenseman

Post by bigargon »

i would like to try to develope a player like ala sami kapponen or joel kwiatowski

a player that can double as a forward or a defenseman.

has anybody tried this?
is it better to do this at the AHL level or NHL?
what characteristics should this player have?
as far as the practicing, should it be all for the new position or the old mixed with the new?
How long would this process take , roughly??

i really would like to take maybe a future backup. and maybe try this.

thanks

It is VERY difficult to train a player for a position that he has no rating in.

I find once every few years in the NHL Entry Draft you get a player who can be both a forward and a defense. I'd take one of these guys, and build on it.

I found a guy this year in my game, who has 3 positions, LW/RW/RD.
