I know it's almost over, but it's never too late. :-p

What do you think about the tournament so far?

I think the most surprising is how good Sweden has been so far, they won all the their games in the group stage. They did even beat Canada! :-D
Great third period where Canada scored 2-0 early in the period, but Sweden did a great comeback and managed to win with 4-3 with only 7 seconds left of the game. :-D

Sweden's games so far:
Sweden-Slovakia 4-3
Denmark-Sweden 1-10
Canada-Sweden 3-4
Sweden-Czech Republic 4-2

Today Sweden is going to play against Russia in the semi-final, I hope Sweden can get to the final and then maybe even win the gold! :-D
But I think Russia is going to be too strong for them.

I don't have the possibility to follow the WJC, so it's nice to hear about it :) Good luck to Swedish kids against the Russians.

What is the other semi-final? Well, i mean: who will loose against Canada? :D

Sweden is the final after 2-1 against Russia, Sweden won in overtime. Five wins in five games! :thup: :-D

Later tonight it's Canada against U.S.A in the second semi final, it doesn't matter which team that win, Sweden will beat them! :-D

Keep eye on Victor Hedman, he's going to be a great player! The Swedish commentators said that it's will probably going to be him or Tavares that is going to be picked as number one in the draft 2009.

I doubt that the Canadian commentators are backing the Swedish ones about Hedman :D

Anyway, good job by the Swedish kids =D> Limiting Russia to just one goal is never an easy task :thup:

Steve Mason won't return to London when he finishes in the tournament, he's been traded to the Kitchener Rangers for a 2nd, 3rd and 4th in 2011 OHL draft, a 2nd in 2012 and two 18 year olds, sounds like a good deal for London, he's been signed by Columbus, and is expected to feature somewhere next year. Kitchener are tearing up this year, there on a record of 31-4-1-2, they sound like the dont need much more help, haha.

Congratulations Canada to the gold!

But in my opinion Sweden actually was the best team in the third period and in the Over Time.
But I am happy for the silver. :2nd:
Sweden did a great impact and that with players that mostly plays in Allsvenskan (on loan from their teams in Elitserien).

4 gold medals in a row... Wow!

Congrats to Sweden for being the only team able to beat Canada U20 over the past 4 years, even if they failed to do it again in the Finals. They had an excellent third period to tie the game, even if they had a bit of luck. This icing in the final minute should have also turned to be a kept puck and a 3-1 Canada win with an empty net goal... But it was an icing, and Sweden capitalized right after the draw to tie the game at 2-all...

Now the next WJC will be in Canada (i don't remember where exactly), so i guess Canada will be looking for a fifth consecutive gold medal...

Well, almost the hockey world.

Down here, no one knew it was going on...

or that it even exists as a sports competition...

or that hockey even exists anymore.

...So there's no bows coming from down here. Just a bunch of puzzled looks on a bunch of faces. ;)

Typical americans (the puzzled looks I mean)...miss out on anything good and exciting, just because of running, kicking and falling down with 2 minute breaks every 10 seconds. :-p

Happily the new NHL-HD channel ran all the medal round games here in the U.S. so I dvr'd the canada-u.s. game and watched the gold medal game live.

The game really turned after Sweden got that first goal. Canada seemed to tense up and Sweden obviously picked up their game. Then the late goal to tie it after that kid almost beat out the icing call.

I always enjoy watching the ends of games like that and I was glad it didn't go to a shootout, there's more of an immediate emotional reaction to an OT goal... and those kids looked like they were on top of the world. Great stuff, and congrats Canada.

Now now... "2 minutes every ten seconds" is exaggerating quite a bit...


...it's more like: "2 minute breaks every ten seconds, plus 5 minute breaks every 5 minutes... and in addition, if it's a kickoff there's a 5 minute break; 20 second kick/return; then 5 more minutes of break. And don't forget the 10 minute breaks twice per game, plus one 10 hour break in the middle somewhere."


Dag-nab ... after typing that and really thinking about the above... I wish even more that I could have seen the WJC instead of the Eagles hopeless last game. :-(

Heh. Poor Stinson. I almost want to invite you to move to Canada. But there is that quota on Americans. We only let in one a year. And my sister just got her boyfriend in. Sorry...you outta luck. Try Sweden...I hear they don't like football either. :-D

Next thing you know..From Chaos will be a Habs fan...and talk about all those historical Stanley Cups. Yeah yeah,...Canada lost an Olympics or two. Gotta give the other guys some hope so that the sport survives :-D

No...because dey speak da language officiale. And apparently, can skate and handle a puck without trashing hotel rooms. :-D At least after they have lived here for a bit. 1-2 generations away from being the next Mario Lemieux Shadd...that is all you are. Gotta move though to Quebec. :-D
