Player salary budget allowed ! ... ?

Post by KevT90 »

Hi, I just started a new game with the TBL's NHL Roster Update Version 1.4 database and I noticed something.

Well, each team have a budget allowed for player salary, mine is 42.3 M$. The salary cap is 50.5 M$ and my estimated wage bill is 45.3 M$ (players salary expenses estimated). So the problem is that because my wage bill is over the allowed budget, it seems that i cant sign any RFA who is asking more than 1M$. The team says that we have to be carefull because our wage bill exceed the budget allowed for player salary, no matter if I'm 5M$ under the cap.

I'm at the very beginning of a new game, september in the off-season. Maybe because we are in off-season, the team is more risk averse ? ? ? Is this only temporary ??? How can we take fully advantage of the higher salary cap in this situation ? ? ?

Thks a lot !

Ask the board to give you more funds for wages.

Apart from that there isn't much you can do.

Okay ! i see ...

But as I'm at the beginning, i can't ask it to the team because it seems they dont find it necessary for now ...

Do you know if teams have much more or less of this budget, in comparison with others, before it becomes possible to raise it ?

Best way to increase your player budget to the max is to win a championship. Every team I've played that has won a championship has had the budget raised to the Cap limit after winning the league playoffs. Other than that, it's just a pain you have to deal with for a season or two.

anyway any other teams will have the same limitation so it's fair for every one.

From a other side, i find it realistic because in real life, some teams would probably wait a little bit to see if they makes the necessary budgetary surplus

QTF, my Hawks has gone from like $38 or so to $58mil within 3 years. Increase by 52%. Windy city sees a lot of green.

This should be in the salary cap section. Please perform a search before creating new threads. This is a cap/budget question and I KNOW we have a section on that. Since this thread starter is new, I will be nice and merge.

But Kev...next time..I may just lock/delete. Please use the search magnifying glass in the top right.

Bah...sorry...the one I found is for editing/changing the cap. Could have sworn we had one. Anyway...this topic now has a generic title and is to be used for all Salary Cap and player budget questions, that are not about editing the cap.

Sleepy Sunday for me

I don't believe so. IIRC this was asked either on the SI or Eastside UK boards and the starting budget for each team was hardcoded like NTCs & 2-ways. I could be wrong, but I don't think so.

Starting budget isn't hardcoded. And most teams have a budget under the cap. In my league I'm starting I changed it so everybody had the same on hand cash and budget.

I'll stand corrected if you can answer kev90 and explain how to achieve this.

Well, if you go get the pre-game editor from here.

Then, you load the database, go to clubs tab, find the NHL team you're looking for (also you can sort for just NHL teams in the drop down) click on the team you want to edit, then click on the club finances tab. I upped a pic as well here. Keep in mind this is pre-game. Never touched the saved game editor yet, but, from the sounds of it, you're just starting anyways.

I generally play for the long haul, so starting out with a team with a small budget doesn't really matter... sure you lose some guys at the start, but then you get some great draft choices and build a better team...

well, i have both the saved game editor and pre-game editor. We can adjust team player budget in both editors. I noted something special in the saved game editor about the player budget. Almost half of the NHL teams had a 57847999 $ player budget and the others were beetween 44000000 $ and 40000000 $. Well i improve each team that had this lasr player budget range to 55000000 $. Maybe this could help to prevent team from releasing a non real amount of quality players at the end of a season ...

Get to the play offs every season and once you win it, money should no longer be a problem.

Gives the league a more personal feel I think. :P Updates all the logos and colours as well, but, since I'm doing a computer-controlled fantasy draft with fake names it'll surely make the game harder.
