I've played about ten games so far. Things aren't going too bad I guess - I'm about 11th in the Conf. My highlight so far was beating the Canucks 4-2 and Ending Naslund's five game scoring streak.
Hopefully I'll be getting Radek Bonk in exchange for two prospects and two draft picks. The Habs decided to negotiate and I agreed to their negotiations. Fingers crossed.
Mysteriously, I decided to pickup JS Aubin from the waivers (not the waiver draft by the way
). I don't really know what possessed me to sign him. Oh well I guess I'll chuck him on waivers and see what happens!

I think the picks I exchanged were rounds 6 and 7 so that's no much of a big deal. The two prospects involved in the trade aren't that fantastic either - I think they were both valued as two stars each in the trade screen.E5150_ca wrote:Are you sure hes worth that?
I managed to get Spezza for less, you can probably do better then Bonk.
I've been looking for someone tough but who can put in a few goals as well and, having unsuccessfully attempted to sign some other players for this position, I've put in an offer for Bonk. I'm really quite desperate to strengthen the checking lines of my offence and I'm hoping he'll do this. He's not exactly ideal but I think he will still do the job.

Mainly my wings are free agents I could probably waive and nobody would pick up
All my FA offers on the offensive/playmaker side went elsewhere and then all my defensive guys signed.
It's a bit dismal. To give you an idea if I can't swing a deal here soon (I'm 'round a week from opening day now) I may just have to break down and give Battaglia the money he wants
I can only give guys so much credit for attending the same High School as I did

My team has met with mixed results so far... 2-3-2
at one point we had three consecutive shootouts and own only one of them
After the second game Ovechkin went out for two weeks with a hip injury
I have to say that Semin was clicking in my preseason though with 7g3a in 5 games
he's had three now in 7 regular season games...
I have some moves on the horizon and Ovechkin will be back in 5-7 days so we'll see what happens.

i've just begun my challenge. preseason was very sucessful with 5 wins and 1 loss. Now 4 games into the season my caps are 3-1-0, despite i didn't shake up the roster like most of you did. nothing spectacular, only revamped defense
signed free agent scott lachance
traded for barett jackman (get rid of battaglia who wants over 1m for his play
)
claimed brad ference from waivers (lost nycholat on waivers what didn't hurt me at all
)
traded for sebastian caron (qullet was awful, needed a backup)
exept my first line, there is not much scoring. most caps players on the roster are average. but i still need a 2nd line center and left wing. but nothing average, so it will cost more than i'm willing to give at the moment
we will see.
semin has lighted up the scoreboard so far with 5g 4a in 4 games.
still i'm trying to get rid of kolzig but no one wants his salary.....

With a tag-team of Miller and Oullette playing I've been doing abit better than average. Next year, once they've both matured a little I predict it will be even better, you shouldn't assume Oullette is hopeless for the season.
And just to brag a little more, I fineally put together a top line with the right tactics. My first line has a combined 20 points in the last 3 games.

I dealt Fehr and a 3rd for Lundqvist to cover myself before dealing Kolzig... usually the Rangers won't move him without basically just signing over your prospect list and picks but I gots lucky I guess. Right place right time like E's Spezza deal.
Currently in my game... after complaining that I wasn't able to get any deals done they've been practically making themselves for me recently and I've brought in some players that I'm very happy with. I'll have mostly the lineup I'll use for the year after hammering out one more deal for a D. Finally among my list of additions to the team will be Ovechkin who as I mentioned was out two weeks with a hip injury
Something that has reallly been bothering me has been Tomas Fleischman's card. Apparently in his spare time he likes to pose for terrible pictures. Who knew?
The current pic is actually his only pic at the Caps official site too. So for my own sanity I had to rework it. Didn't turn out too bad given the source. I had to rework the background, remove the text and do a 'Hair Club for Men' hair restoration project on the top of his head
:

Here's the card if you want it... you'll have to either rename it as an .ehg or pull out the .ehg version currently in your pics folder so this one will come up. Had to leave it a png or I couldn't show it online.
