Failed Roster Attempt....Any Ideas?

Post by gollum65 »

I was trying to create a saved game that everyone could use to start their franchises on April 1, 2008. I took the TBL version 1.5 database (BIG thanks to everyone who worked on the TBL db!) and updated it to include all NHL trades and waiver claims through trade deadline day. I then extended the contract of ~1800 players and staff, every player and every staff member on all 30 NHL teams.

My intention was to create a GM for each of the 30 teams, go on vacation till the 2007 draft, complete the draft in the right order, then go on vacation again until April 1st, 2008. Once I got to 4/1/08, all 30 fake GMs would retire and we'd have a current roster set that didn't require you to start in 2006.

But what I didn't know was that EHM only allows 15 simultaneous GMs, so there was no way I could manage all 30 teams to ensure there would be no player or staff movement. Since you can't change what team a player is contracted to with the saved game editor, there wouldn't be any way to reverse any deals or waivers transactions the other 15 teams made.

So, if anyone has any ideas, I have a database that in effect would have no free agency and no staff movement until the end of the 2007-2008 NHL season, except for retirements and what the computer GMs did on their own.

You could always release it as database, I'm sure there are many people out there who'd like the NHL updated to their latest. That would ofcourse mean you'd have to re-edit the contract end dates so that a year long contract ends in 2007, but other than that, you'd be all set. :-)
