Dormant Teams that Can Be Overwritten! - NEED YOUR OPINIONS!

Post by Sbufkle »

Okay.. as I tend to do, especially when I don’t have real time to do it, is in another thread suggested I eventually do something that I have now officially began to do, albeit in earnest.

Ill need your guys opinions, especially because you have more experience with EHM!

Following up on the thread where I listed my ‘team index’ error fix, I mentioned I solved the situation by replacing a ‘filler’ team with an NHL team name as a work around. (If that didn’t make sence read the thread!)

Thread is here:

http://www.ehmtheblueline.com/forums/vi ... php?t=3701

Later in the thread I mentioned starting a list of teams that have no affiliations to a leaguer so could be used as replacement teams in my workaround method.

So I have dled the latest UNFAKING database and will begin to list theses teams that are.. well replaceable!!

Heres where I need your opinion, since you all have a better understanding of the game.

Thus by opening database and going down the list I find what I see as the first team that fits my criteria.

The Abilene Aviators last played in the Western Professional Hockey League, a pro league.

But to me, because Nation, Division and Other Division is blank… well they are a dormant team not being used and should go on my list!!

Now when I look at Boulogne, they dont have ANYTHING in the main fields, so they too to me are dormant.

Now in fact, is Abilene active in someway in the game and SHOUDLNT be included as replaceable??

When I look at the Hartford Whalers, you see the NHL mentioned, but the team is inactive.. we know that!!

So guys.. using these three examples, which ones do you think I should list as being able to overwrite in my ‘team index’ fix??

MAN I HOPE THIS MADE SENCE!!! Lol!

I think you could use either. The most important thing is whether they are in an active league. Neither are and so I think they're both "dormant". Taking an educated guess, the Last Division and Club Status fields are merely for historical/informational purposes; it doesn't have any effect ingame.

I think the most important fields for determining whether a team is dormant is whether it has a Division or Other Division. Perhaps Nation is also as important. :-k

Dude, you've given us so much to think about with regards to modding EHM over the past few days. It's really interesting - and productive ! I've had a busy week and so it's going to take a while for me to catch up with all of your topics...
