Does setting a status of 'Not Needed' on a player have an effect on their trade value? I know it seems that if you put a player on the trading block his value goes down (or so it seems) but does the same happen for not needed?

I'm not sure, but I know that the player's status effects how much money you can offer them to sign.

Have you played around with their status during trade negotiations? Maybe the number of stars will change and that may help with your question.

I have not tried it yet...worried I might devalue my player :) But I suppose I can test with saved game and just reload.

Changing his status to a lower one will surely make him unhappy, at least usually, and it might be that changing it back won't make him happy again. I've had this many times, so be carefull.

It also seems that, if you change, for example, a fringe player to a core player status, and keep it fo a couple of weeks, he won't accept a change back to fringe player, alltough he never was anything more then a fringe player.

I would assume his trade value would go down somewhat. Because if you say you don't need him, then you're probably looking to get rid of him as soon as possible... in which case the AI won't need a full offer since you're just looking to get rid of the player.

Kind of like buying winter clothes in the spring - prices will be down because the stores just want them gone to make room for summer stuff.

Though, whether the game works like this, I don't know. :dunno:

Chainging it over and over will upset him. Usually one change will not. However, you must watch this with players you entice from Europe and college. One change could anger them FOREVER.
