I just watched the movie Untraceable on DVD, and the Portland Winter Hawks were briefly featured in the plot. A victim is lured by the promise of free tickets and he is then attacked in front of an exterior shot of the Rose Garden.
The film itself was rather lousy, but I thought it cool that a junior hockey club gets acknowledged in an industry whose general appreciation of the sport is limited to Mighty Ducks films. The script just as easily could have named the NBA's Portland Trail Blazers as the team he was going to see. Then again, I suspect they went with the Winter Hawks because 99.9% of viewers would think it's a fictional team.

I suspect the NBA licensing fee vs the WHL licensing fee might have had something to do with their choice!BlindEarth80 wrote:The script just as easily could have named the NBA's Portland Trail Blazers as the team he was going to see.
