The Swede who got lost in Canada

Post by joehelmer »

This story starts in Toronto, Ontario. On one street there is a man who walks alone, he is trying to find somewhere to sleep.
He found a hotel after a couple of hours, but it’s not a very exclusive one, because he almost doesn’t have any money at all. When he had checked in, got his key and packed up all his things he walked and bought himself a newspaper.
The first thing he did was to check if there was any manager job available, that’s one of two reasons he is here in Toronto. The other reason is that he wants to start a new life, on a place where he can have some privacy.
Earlier he lived in Sweden, but there he felt like he was hunted by journalists who always why he resigned from his job as manager for Skellefteå AIK during last season. And he was tired to always try to keep them away from his home. Then he decided to leave Sweden, maybe forever and try to find his new future in Canada.
After he had checked the available jobs that he think was interesting he started to phone the chairmen of the clubs and he left his email, told them what he had done earlier and asked them to write to him as soon as possible if they were interesting to have him as manager.

Next day when he checked his email he had got mail from three teams, Toronto St. Michael’s Majors (Ontario Hockey League), Mississauga IceDogs (Ontario Hockey League) and Sarnia Sting (Ontario Hockey League). He didn’t reply those mails immediately, because he needed more time to decide which team he wanted coach. A couple of hours later he decided to coach Toronto St. Michael’s Majors.
He replied the mail and not much later he got a mail back from them where welcomed him to the club and told him what the board’s expectations was and they were to reach the playoffs, he also got a map which where the arena is located.

He walked there and when he arrived the whole board was waiting outside. They took him in to the dressing room where he got introduced to all the players and the other personnel. Then the board left and so did the scouts. When they all had left he told the players what the board expected from them and he also told them that the training camp was going to begin two days later.

Next update: The roster.
