How long is it to make such backgrounds compared to doing pics? In other terms, can we dream to see the whole game with a pic and a background for every player? Well, i know we can dream about it, but would it be decently possible? Or is it pure fiction?
you know the background picture set thing you working on, are they just large action pictures of the players in question??
I think they're the type that'll show up as game background when you click certain player profiles.
Like if you have a background to Ovechkin, you'll see his background while viewing his profile.
This is yet another cool feature to EHM that has, atleast here at TBL, been almost completely overlooked. It has loads of potential to complement the player profiles alongside the cards.

It's something I did for EHM 04 - I remember doing an arena background pack and some UK team ones. It's a shame they dropped the feature in 05 because I planned on continuing doing them.
The problem with doing background packs is finding a good enough source for a 1024 x 768 background image. If the source image is too small then it'll look jagged when you enlarge it to the required size.
I have collected and done some over 200+ player backgrounds for EHM 2007. They are mainly NHL players, I'v also done some AHL and European ones as well. I have used the blueish SI background as a fading element to match the original backgrounds better. I haven't been too picky with what team the player represents in the picture as the high resolution pictures aren't actually that common to find.
The semi-transparent blue on top of the backgrounds certainly helps to mask much of the jaggedness caused by enlarging small images to 1024x768. I think I used to get away with about 800x600 using this method.

And it makes it somewhat nicer as well as you still can check the attributes etc. without destroying your vision while doing it.
