You're doing an 08/09 update? We've just started on one two. If you're interested in working together then drop me a PM. We're currently doing the research but we have updated the 07/08 v1.5 TBL rosters so that the NHL rosters are up-to-date.

Yep, Im working on a 2008/2009 update. I think Ive mentioned it somewhere before, Ive talked a little with Tasku about it too.

I started working on it March 1st - with the Updated Unfaking (TBN)as a base. As I was weighing pros and cons with that one against the exisiting TBL one, I finally decided to go with the TBN DB. The reason for this is the updated attributes.

Since March 1st, Ive spent hundreds of hours updating the rosters from scratch, and also editing the attributes from SEL and Allsvenskan. Updated rosters so far are:

NHL (including staff)
SEL
Allsvenskan
SM-Liiga
Norwegian league
Danish league
Russian league
Czech league
German league
Swiss league
Most transfers from eurohockey.net's archive from 1 year back (A-T finished).

They will all need a re-check once silly season calms down though.

Since its not based on the TBL-DB, it would be unethical to call it a TBL DB, and therefore I will keep working on it alone, but Id gladly share information with you guys! :-D

BTW, did you get an answer to your question whether it was possible for Neil (or anyone else) to create a tool aging all staff and players simultaneously?

Neil said it was a good idea and he'd consider it. He's a busy guy so I wouldn't expect anything soon.

How are you dealing with the 2006 start date? Are you sticking with the original dates of birth?

I haven't touched the birth dates yet, still hoping that Neil will create an aging tool, but if he doesn't, Ill probably take on editing all the dates manually... I really hope I don't need to do that :nerd:

That'd be something like 20,000 dates of birth to change :-o

We're concentrating solely on the NHL/AHL/ECHL at the moment as they're the leagues most people play. Are you doing any other North American leagues or just the NHL. We're going to be altering attributes but I think we're doing it only with prospects. We know some people who have seen a fair bit of junior hockey so they're going to be of great help in rating the prospects.

The number of Euro leagues you're working on is quite staggering! I think you'll have a hell of an update when you've finished it. I don't want to get into the whole debate about editing attributes, but the only reservation I have is that anyone can post attribute changes at TBN's forums - this gives me concerns about the reliability of some of the changes. I don't want to take anything away from your update, though - I think it makes sense if you're working alone to base it one TBN's as it saves you having to worry about attributes along with the rest of the updating work.

Be sure to upload your finished DB to TBL - I'm more than happy to host it for you

Actually its 40K+ birthdates, which is why Im crossing my fingers that Neil can come up with something.

I guess Ive done about 10-15K transfers so far from the original DB, in addition to updating the attributes of at least 1K Swedish players. If any TBL users have suggestions for well-based attribute changes, Ill gladly input them too.

For about 1,5 months, I could use about 5hrs per day at work for updating, but I got caught, and cannot work as much on the DB anymore, so the workrate has slowed down alot...

Jeepers! That's incredible! :-o

I didn't realise it was over 40,000 birthdates. That would take an awful long time to do manually. I'm doing the 900 players contracted to NHL teams today. If I can average between 5 and 10 players per minute then I should have it done in 1.5-3 hours. If I were to do all 40,000 staff at that average then it'd take over 120 hours :swamped:

Edit: In the TBL 07/08 roster update there's 43,902 staff :-o

By the way, I'm quite happy to share all of my research with ya. I'm not speaking on behalf of the other mods, but any work I personally do, you are welcome to a copy of it. We're primarily focussing on the NHL and prospects. So if there's anything you need, let me know and I'll see if I can help you out

Hey,

Um... I don't really know where to put this. So I'll place it here for now.

But if you want help with the 08/09 roster update... I can. I was thinking of doing the Swiss National Ligia A and National Ligia B along with the French Magnus League, Austrian League, Solvakien Leauge, and the German DEL.

Is anyone going to update the IHL(OHL in the game). The rosters are quite old, and I'd love to play the Icehawks .

Are you considering update the ECHL teams names for the next season, like Ontario Reign the new Kings Affiliate, and include too the new Montreal Junior of QMJHL?

You can't add teams to a league without taking another away so no Montreal Juniors(They are an expansion team, right?).
As for Ontario they have probably changed the name of Texas since it was that organization that moved. I haven't seen anything on Reading losing Kings-affiliation so Los Angeles might have two ECHL-affiliates

1.Montreal Juniors are taking the place of the St.John's, so it's only rename, the main probably is to change the actual 2 divisions into new 4 that will take place next season.
wish the game wasn't hard coded =|
2.Ontario could be a renamed team of Long Beach....

btw: can you give a first projected release date for the first version of the updated DB? It's clear that you can't say the exact day but maybe something approximate?

Thanks! :joy:

Since I started working on it (March 1st), I've had August 30th as my goal. Even though I'm working on it at least 3 hours a day (usually more), I'm not gonna be able to squeeze everything I want into it by then, but I'll keep working on it after that too.

The NHL season is going to start around about the end of September. I suggest waiting until then to release the update because it would be great to have beginning of season rosters. Maybe just a beta around Aug 30th?

Hey everyone, i just have a question about this update. I'm interested in updating rosters myself, but what programs do you use? I know there's the pre-game editor, but how do you edit the draft picks and stuff?
